"If you are first you are first...

...If you are second you are nothing." Bill Shankly

Harsh words from Mr Shankly and part of you wonders if this was a dig at Klopp, foreseeing what events would unfold.

Jürgen has done brilliantly to carry on from Rodgers and keep the team playing attacking football. He does really need to start getting over the line now though and you have a big chance in a few weeks time.

You've had a very good season, there's no denying that and part of me wonders if the draw at Old Trafford was the title decider.

I expect you to come back strong again next year though, more so than I do us

I'd say the opposite, the Liverpool fans I've spoken to or listen to all saw it as bonus only if City dropped points, I don't think any of them expected to win it yesterday.

How loud were United fans cheering City goals - wow... ain't that gotta hurt

How dare the PL leave podiums at Anfield
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this, so harsh of them to dangle the carrot. You've now got Liverpool fans in tears on the radio.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

No thoughts of saving the planet either

Hopefully it can all be recycled unless maybe next year etc

what part of you thinks it was the utd game that cost pool the title your ass? the title difference was the city game.

----

mont - I disagree there mate, fact is City 98 points, Liverpool 97 points.. you could say so many things were the difference..

City's 'overline' vs Burnley
Liverpool's last minute winner vs Everton,
Liverpool's draw at United.
Mahrez penaulty miss...

nah, over a season the winners deserve it over 36 games..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree completely spanish, well deserved for city i mean 98 pts ffs. but to single out just one moment to change and everything else stays the same, the ball almost going over the line against city was as close as it gets. amazing season and we could be part of it next year.

Mind the gap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Last season we were 2nd and Liverpool were 4th.

Things will be fluid
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You think you’ll finish above us next season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I said football is fluid. The last time you were second with Brenda, what happened?

Even the most bitter dipper would not have expected Utd to finish 6th this season

--------------

that's so true... but it makes it even funnier when you did first 6th

Liverpool are miles miles miles ahead of everybody apart from City, currently,
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So next year will be your year

If coming second was the benchmark of success, Klopp would be the most successful manager of the last 10 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Klopp was extremely gracious in his post-game remarks regarding City as being worthy champions.
But you do have a point(sarcasm maybe?), Liverpool had a 7 point lead in January and still blew it! He has to be torn up inside?

The saying that the OP quoted is unfair. It's like that other, no smoke without fire. Also cruel and untrue.
