Wayne Bridge Understands Chelsea

https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/14/wayne-bridge-admits-surprised-maurizio-sarri-hasnt-sacked-chelsea-9540827/

"Some say it’s been successful but it’s been very up and down. They’ve been very inconsistent and consistency is what you want of a big team. That’s what’s going to win you the Premier League. I don’t really know where he [Sarri] stands. I’m very surprised that he’s still there. They are third [in the Premier League] and they are in a final [the Europa League] but as an ex-player and a Chelsea fan, they would like to see them higher up in the table. I know it’s third but they want to see them competing [for the Premier League title]."

When did we as fans become satisfied with 3rd place and miles away from competing for the title? Why have standards fallen so much?

Chelsea and Tottenham are closer than United and Arsenal are. For us, all I see us needing is a striker and our equivalent of Van Dijk in defence and we'll be there. And not losing Hazard, although I don't know how good Pulisic is.

I don't understand why Madrid even want Hazard. Kane would be a better target for them, as would Mbappe.

I don't think Hazard has the mentality to be their talisman player. He'd be a good second fiddle, but he won't be their main man.

There’s not much between the four right now, though, and all four need a bit of a rebuild - with Spurs, Chelsea and United possibility losing some key players. Transfer window is massive for all four. You need more than just a striker and cb.

Kane and Mbappe probably would be better targets but far more expensive and difficult to get. And Zidane loves Hazard.

What a plastic

It’s pretty simple really - he’s being judged by the hand he’s been dealt, which is a pretty poor one in comparison to the hand dealt to the managers who have been successful for us.

There are justified criticisms of Sarri but, considering the way the club is being run and the players we have currently, 3rd place and two cup finals is above expectations. Pretty much the same squad was 6th last year, let’s not forget.

3rd place is never above expectations. Always below for a club like this. Let’s not lower our standards.
