Jon Flanagan

Innocent Man

Rangers have successfully defended Jon Flanagan on a dramatic day at Hampden.

Flanagan had been offered a two-match ban after he lashed out at Scott Brown during last weekend’s win over Celtic at Ibrox.

Although referee Kevin Clancy booked the full-back for the flashpoint, SFA compliance officer felt the forearm smash merited more than a yellow card and cited Flanagan.

Rangers then released a scathing statement that questioned the SFA disciplinary process. The Ibrox club revealed they would "vigorously defend" the Scouser while expressing surprise Celtic’s Jozo Simunovic escaped a citation despite appearing to elbow Jermain Defoe during the same match.

And the club has won the day after an independent panel lifted the threat of a suspension. Flanagan, 26, is now free to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday in the final game of the season

Correct decision Ref saw it, dealt with it. C/O should only be dealing with things ref didn't see not whether he/she thinks he was right or not

Must admit I was surprised as we have previously been led to believe if the ref dealt with it it’s it’s
Over
Not surprised they’re a fookin shambles
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That new guy who is in charge now came with a lengthy statement on how it works and that the ref's decision is final unless he doesn't see violent conduct .

Is Clancy now trying to say he didn't facking see it ? Ffs

He was right there , stopped play and booked Flanagan

Also a surprisingly short and un-named report on the bbc with no link from the football homepage
