Opposition scouting

I like Unai but I have to wonder what he has had these players doing in the last fortnight or so. For a guy that shows his players constant video analysis of the opposition, they don’t seem to be learning an awful lot about their opponents. Girouds goal was so avoidable but everyone could see it coming, time and time again they knocked the ball into him.

We didn’t shut out their crosses, it was a brilliant header don’t get me wrong, but Kos allowed him to get a free run , it was pathetic defending. Then to Hazard who I thought only came to life when they scored, we were allowing him to run past without any challenge whatsoever. The team badly lost their shape, it was embarrassing. It seems like these players were on holiday and not playing in the biggest game of their lives.

All the video analysis doesn’t seem to have helped us. What the hell were they actually analysing the past few weeks because it certainly wasn’t Chelsea!. Disgusting 2nd half capitulation.

I'm not sure. I think the Giroud goal was one of those that you can't do too much about. Maybe close Emerson down quicker but I don't think you can blame the CB for not getting to Giroud. You can't read the mind of the forward and there will always be times where the striker is half a step ahead.

I think he could have been tighter, especially as he used to play for us. Kos knows him inside out. He switched off.

I agree , you have to give credit where due , it was a brilliant header , most defenders would have struggled to stopped it once the cross had come in

Niles was caught in 2 minds as he was worried about an overlap as well, kos was a bit weak however giroud did very well. Probably avoidable but there wasn’t any major mistakes. The unforgivable mistake was completely collapsing after that! Going 1 down in 55th min isn’t the end of the world, there’s still plenty of time to turn it around. But soon as that goal went in, the entire game plan and focus vanished in an instance.
