The Champions league is the top table, the greatest modern managers Fergie, mourinho.& pep have only won it twice even with players like Ronaldo, Messi and many other generational talents in their sides.

City brought in Pep for one reason......Bayern & Barca will sack their managers this summer after winning their leagues, Juve brought in Ronaldo for one reason.....

We didn’t bring in Guardiola for one reason though. Neither did Bayern when they hired him either. It’s a cup competition, it’s absurd to judge without context.

Champions league......no context needed. Mancini, Pellegrini, Niko kovac, Valverde, Juve are all capable of winning their leagues with the richest sides. The too dogs want the CL. The CL gets you immortalised and wins Ballon d'ors.

i cant tell you who won all.the big leagues in say 1972, 1984, 1955 & 2001 across europe.........but i can tell you won the european cup that year thats for sure

Really? I can’t. I can remember Mourinhos Chelsea or Wengers invincibles far more.

That’s still not really the point though. Guardiola was brought in to turn us into a team that could have sustained success and to be competing as far into the season as possible, which is what he has done. The CL is the icing on the cake, the cake is still the most important bit though.

Nobody won the European Cup in 55. The first one was won in 56. Also, why would anybody know who won it in 72?! I'm assuming Bayern or Inter. Probably Bayern in 01 too. But these are educated guesses, as opposed to being etched in the memory

Klooo won back to back leagues with Dortmund, a team that cost £20m to assemble against a dominant Bayern team....against the odds out of nowhere......dortmund were in the wilderness before klopp took over.

Yet last night he said its the night of my life professionally? why? why wasnt winning the bundesliga the night of his life?

Why did guardiola say that city cant be cinsidered the best until they win the CL?

Because winning the league isn’t a one off game. I’d be interested to see what Klopp would say his greatest achievement is though.

Either way, it’s still a different discussion as you’re now talking from the perspective of the coaches, which wasn’t what I pulled you up on initially.

Think I'd rather have cities season tbf, we're so shiiite with trophies that just winning the one would have felt like a one off whereas a treble would have give us so much cause to feel optimistic

City fans generally pretty ambivalent about the CL. Difference between us and pool is that we tried to win everything, they concentrated on 2 competitions and we won one of them!

Our squad is good but still not as big and laden with quality players as City's petrobillions squad so its only fair we employ guerrilla warfare tactics here. The enemy has superior weapons and no problems with their supply chain which is funded by a state.

Despite that you won the league by a nose and we've taken the CL. Roll on next season.
