I see the cretinous George Galloway has once again been sacked by a radio station, this time it is talkSport.
Galloway was fired for anti-semitic comments in a tweet congratulating Liverpool on winning the CL.
The bit that got him sacked was when he referred to “no Israeli flags on the cup"
"Congratulations to the great people of Liverpool to the memory of the socialist miner Bill Shankley to the fallen 96 to those who fought for justice for them and to the Liverpool dockers. No Israel flags on the Cup!"
Liverpool FC were quick to condemn Galloway and his anti-semitic comments as were Spurs.
It was also pointed out that Shankly does not have an e in the name.
His comments were quickly jumped on by representatives of both clubs and also by Lord Sugar.
As pointed out, Liverpool are a club who have players from all walks of life.................Avi Cohen, Ronnie Rosenthal, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and the club embraces everyone regardless of their ethnicity, religion or beliefs.
Very sad that someone like Galloway makes comments like he does on the back of a big moment in Liverpool's history.

There seems to be an issue with people conflating being against what the Israeli government does and being antisemitic. Germany has fell into this trap when they labeled the BDS movement antisemitic (I disagree with their decision). On the other han, GG's comment could be taken as a dog whistle to such tropes. When blurring the lines it devalues the term antisemitism, as it gives ammunition to those in the far right and left who claim anything against Israel is labelled antisemitic. The Israeli government also uses this tag to shut down those with legitimate cause for their anti-Isreal/Anti-Zionism stances.
I also disagree with M52 saying Israel is better than KSA as it is democratic. That actually makes it worse as the population has chosen governments that back killing and dehumanising Palestinians and Israeli Arabs. They back these actions in each and every election. The people of KSA have no say in what their rulers do. Israeli Jews do (Israeli Arabs have very little say and even more so since the that new law passed making every non-Jew in Israel as second class citizen).

Galloway is also very pro- Palestine, and so obviously has an anti-Israel agenda, but it doesn’t equate to antisemitism

Not the SF 32-county socialist republic kind or the old ultra Catholic garlic kind, but in future I foresee a British Irish federal arrangement here, and as am off down to Sligo and Cork for wee breaks soon, I have to day I feel more at home there than parts of the UK and NI.😉🙂

Until quite recently, the Irish Catholic church dominated much of Irish life and that is one reason unionists did not want to break from the UK.
