Media Watch: More right-back rumours

Transfers, international fixtures and the Women’s World Cup provide the talking points in Friday’s edition of Media Watch.

In amongst the usual gossip, there’s reaction from England’s Nations League game and praise for City’s Lionesses ahead of their World Cup opener.
Let’s start with transfer rumours…
The Metro claim City have opened talks with Juventus over Joao Cancelo.
Writes Coral Barry: “Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Juventus defender Joao Cancelo, according to reports.
“The Premier League champions are in talks with Juventus and the club are confident a £44million deal can be agreed for the right-back.
“Cancelo is keen on a switch to the Premier League and Manchester United have been credited with a transfer interest in the Portugal international."
Atletico Madrid’s Rodri is another player to have been linked with a City switch and the Manchester Evening News (MEN) have labelled him 'the perfect signing' after Spain U21 boss, Albert Celades, compared him to Sergio Busquets.
He said: What stands out the most to me is that he’s a long (lanky) player who can play with both feet, perfect for playing the ball out of high-pressure areas...just like Busquets, he has the intuition to position himself well, to know where the play is going (so that he can) win the ball."

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling has won praise from Jamie Redknapp for the rate at which he has developed in recent seasons.

The Daily Mail have the story, with Redknapp saying: 'If you said he would have been an England captain two years ago I would have never believed you.

“I would have thought no chance. He hasn't got the personality for it. Now he has become a leader.
“He's helping young players. This is what we are doing now in this country, we are producing players like him.
'To see the development of these young players and to see what can happen to Raheem Sterling, it's great for English football."
Jill Scott have also received a glowing review as England’s most capped player, Fara Williams, previews the World Cup.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Williams said: "For me, Jill Scott has always, when she’s represented England at tournaments, has always been our standout player.
"She’s very consistent. She’s somebody that I think with her experience and maturity in the midfield will be somebody that will certainly drive our team."
