Off topic....but bottled it all the same

Don't particularly follow tennis, but watched the Jo Konta match today, only to see if a British player could actually get to the French Open final.

Alas, and of absolutely no surprise, she bottled it in the good old English fashion.

Playing an unseeded 19 year old, leading 5-3 in both sets, she contrived to lose the match in straight sets. It was funny to see the 19 year old basically work out that if she just kept the ball in court, Konta would make mistakeafter mistake. A simply game plan that worked a treat

My point is not really about tennis, but the basic fact that every, and I mean every British sportsperson will bottle it in a big game.

Last night's joke of a football team, and now this pathetic effort.

My advice is to go to the bookies and bet against a British player / team at every semi final ( or if by some miracle they get to a final ) and you will make a fortune.

So let's see who is next shall we.

Next up, Women's World Cup. Who wan'ts to bet against an English bottle job ?? Nah didn't think so.

Scenario....cruise through the group matches, get the press / pundits all optimistic then fall apart against the first decent team they come up against. Seen it so many times in tournament play from this country.

Bookmark this post and let's see.

Blame the Scots for that. The England and Wales cricket board do just fine. Mostly.

The 'and Wales' part is forgotten mostly! I really don't know why Wales doesn't have its own team.

Because the game requires 11 players I think.

Fair play!

I'd just rather they dropped the pretence. If there was a Wales XI I think I'd be in the running as I was my home town's youth captain back in the day!

It's a bit weird that they dont even put the W in the acronym. Basically I think it allows us to pick up Australian and S. African players who had a Welsh nan.

Henderson, Milner Trent and Robertson are trying to get through on the phone.
