Favourite Footie/Hoolie related books

The first one I read was Everywhere we go by Doug and Eddie Brimsom
Fans of Watford.

There is also the legendary Fever Pitch which is a fantastic read

Recently I read Terrace Terrors by Richard Allena
This is an early 70s book in which the author writes
a series of book about Joe Hawkins the king of all
Skinheads.Outdated and provocative but accurate

Whats Books/movies footie/hoolie related have you

Tanner upset a few by writing that book and he ended up getting out in his place by one of the younger members of our firm.

Soul crew (Cardiff) and the Sheff Utd books were ok

Yeah the Sheff United one (Steve Cowans I believe) is an excellent read.

Anything by the Brimsons is generally very readable. The best one is Tear Gas and Ticket Touts though, which is set during France 98.

Others which are worth a read are

'Steaming in' - Colin Ward
'Awaydays' - Kevin Sampson (also an average movie, but the book is fantastic, probably the best one I've ever death in the genre)
Rolling with the 6:57 crew
Hooligans 1 & 2 - two Rothmans yearbook-sized books that have a feature on every single firm in England and Scotland. The almanac of hooliganism.
Read Army General by Tony O'Neill
Scally by Andy Nicholls
The John King Omnibus (Football Factory, Headhunters, England Away)

I was even lent the famous "Tottenham Boys We are Here" by a Spurs mate of mine back in the early eighties that is much sought after by your fans. Even on Amazon it is unavailable.

"but the trouble with a lot of them is that the authors tend to get caught up in self-aggrandizement and their claims become laughable"

Was the problem with Tanner's book.

Agree flashy. I read both his books and you're spot on. I'm not saying he hasn't done things but he seems as if he's trying too hard to make an impression. He claims Chelsea are nothing but then goes on to dedicate 2 whole chapters talking about them (more than any other Club), which seems contradictory.

Tanner got nicked at Chelsea away

He was caught on camera coming out the 3 kings at the top of north end road throwing bottles and glasses

The old bill were all dressed as London Underground staff

The footage of it featured in Salina scott’s tv Program in the 1980’s opening credits

Hounslow's, yeah I saw that footage. He was the one with the ponytail and the cosh.
