Games on TV

Admin, multiboard s'il te plait...

With Amazon entering the fold and screening games alongside BT and Sky, I'm starting to think that all three should screen all games and just let viewers choose who the want to sign up with to watch games. This current situation is getting ridiculous now.

BT Sport (w/out HD) - £16 pcm (with BT Broadband) / £29.99 pcm (Sky)
Amazon - £80 pa / £7.99 pcm
Sky Sports Football - £18 pcm

And that's on top of whatever TV package one chooses an, in the case of BT, which broadband supplier one chooses.

Obviously there are streaming options (but they are generally unreliable) and pub options (but one doesn't always want to pub or, as I've found out occasionally, some charge an entry fee).

I know football is now a business and is all about money but come on now!

Me too

They've nailed it with Sky Q imo. YouTube, Netflix, Spotify all on there. Amazon Prime in the pipeline.

Dream scenario.

You don't need to. Netflix App in on the homepage and in the On Demand section.

Ah right I can do that yeah, I meant if you pay for the combined thing (and cancel your existing seperate sub) then they mix the programs from all on demand areas into your suggestions etc.

It's only the UK which suffers this utter shambles

Step outside to pretty much any other country in the world and you can watch every single Prem (plus the rest) game live and also on demand for a fraction of the cost

Hopefully there will be some sort of revolt if things continue like this.

It should really be regulated better though, price to the consumer should be capped and the only allowable split in rights should be to allow the free to air channels a slice of the pie.

I'm already revolting, in my own little way, I cancelled BT. That'll show 'em. Waiting a call from the CEO now.

^^ I don't think you're revolting, Henry'sCat. I think you're quite charming

Be it Sky, Amazon, BT or whomever. NONE of them could get away with ripping people off, if people didn't keep sitting giving them money. It's not those companies, it's the fans who season after season, just keep on paying like mugs.

The other countries you all mention, where it's all free or cheap. It's because the people/fans of those countries refuse to get stuffed like that. Some places there'd be riots if you tried the crap that sky and Co are pulling here.

Amazon is in the mix now to present a passable appearance of "Competition" offering choice for the customer. When in reality all they'll be doing is covering games the others don't. Getting their piece of football pie and overall increasing prices for fans.

None of this will change until fans simply refuse to pay the ridiculous prices ALL of these companies demand for the privilege. A bit like most other things in the PL, the fans here need to start using the power they have constructively. If the PL fans had put half as much effort into fighting prices, as they have into getting various managers sacked, since the league started. Then we wouldn't have this problem.
