French TV saying that anti-corruption authorities are looking into Platini's complete about-turn after attending a dinner held at the Elysee just 10 days before the vote in 2010. (He was initially strongly in favour of holding the tournament in America.)

Among the attendees were Sarkozy and the now Emir of Qatar.

The authorities are also looking to cast light on the events leading to Qatari investment in PSG. This, of course, coming hot on the heels of Qatar being officially announced as hosts.

It is in terms of hosting a major football tournament. Having to disrupt every European leagues season to play it in the winter because of the weather, them having to build the infrastructure from scratch with immigrant workers being flogged to death. It’s a joke that they were awarded it.

I'd say any country where Homosexuality is criminalised by up to 7 years in prison, should never be considered to hold something like the WC. I doubt we will see many rainbow laces on show.

Ideally I’d be Platini but I don’t speak French well enough
