They did.

I looked them up. There isn't anything in Qatar listed as a major project by them either.

They have always been very dodgy. When they went under they owed money to about 30,000 contractors. Most of who will have been relatively small businesses owned by individuals. Family businesses that have been built up through years of hard work, just destroyed like that. Terrible stuff.

It looks like they were contracted out by Msheireb Properties, which is backed by the Qatar Foundation, an organisation that is itself backed by the Qatar Government.

They claim they were owed 200 million prior to liquidation.

MUDD, it's fair enough to point out that everyone has blind spots in their ethics and some of us may be hypocritical about focus on Qatar while ignoring other things. But I suggest in your well-meaning defensiveness against British Islamophobia and double standards, you may have a bit of a blind spot around the exploitative relationship towards migrant workers across the Gulf States. The horrendous treatment of workers and the scale of the exploitation is well documented and it strikes me as very complacent to dismiss the lack of legal protections as a simple case of regulation not catching up with requirements when the whole economic model is built around two tiers of rights.

You do make an important point about the complicity of Western / British businesses, and they should also be held to account.

also...if this farce comp is running between mid nov & mid late Dec...when the Prem should be on, are we still having the proposed new winter break that year...which I presume is january some time

The Qatar World Cup needs to be scrapped now. None of this innocent until proven guilty BS. These cants will do all they can do delay any potential trial they will face. Won’t be surprised if any trial doesn’t take place til after the World Cup.

The whole system is a joke in fairness and opens itself up to this sort of thing.
