Kristof Terreur @HLNinEngeland

Paul Pogba’s contract at Man United:

Basic wages: £7,5m a year, £144.000 a week

Gets a loyalty payment £3,75m a year, £1,85m a year if club qualifies for the Champions League, around £3m a year for his image rights.

Footy Leaks has been a beacon of truth for many things football, so if we take this as truth then the press have been well off with what Pogba is earning. He's on a basic wage of 144k a week, it only goes up to 270k if he achieves the right bonuses.

Saying you want a new challenge could mean he wants to leave or something else. For example, if Ed does offer him 500k a week and he signs and then made captain, he could simply say that's the new challenge. He has chosen his words carefully.

Regarding the difference between a manager and head coach, Tottenham Manager Pochettino, in his interview a few years ago quite accurately put what the difference is in the two roles. He said-

“If you are the manager, you decide many things about the club. But if you are a head coach, your responsibility is to play better, try to improve the players and to get positive results.”

“At Southampton, I was a manager. My responsibility was not only to coach the team. With Tottenham, I am a head coach. A head coach is head of your department. My department is to train the team.”

So when Jose referred to himself as Head coach, what do you think he was saying?

What has the fees or negotiation about a contract got to do with this when Ed said no?

If my kid wants ice cream and I say no, the flavour, size, nor the price matters as my kid's not getting it.

And Jose's word here is more credible than yours.

The facts that Ed has backed all his managers and gave the manager a contract extension because he backed him and that Jose has not said 'Ed told me no'

Why do you think Jose played Herrera at CB?

It is quite obvious that Ed didn't back Jose last summer in his pursuit of a CB. That is why Jose kept playing midfielders in there - to make a point/send a message.

I don't actually blame Ed for not backing him though. Jose had already signed to CBs and couldn't get a tune out of them, so why would you trust him to sign another.

Jose pointed to how Pep was backed in buying defenders and GKs even when the first didn't work out.

I don't blame Ed for not backing him. I do blame Ed for hiring him and not expecting this. Jose is a short term manager. He will make short term signings such as Zlatan and Matic and wanting Perisic. If the type of signings you want to make don't suit the type of manager you hire, you're going to have a problem.
