I’d imagine extended Mata’s contract is with view to bringing Gomes through gradually. The naive people that were expecting all the older players to be shifted and a youth revolution to start at United were always going to be left disappointed.

To be honest I was expecting somebody like Fernandes coming in and Gomes deputising for him or Pogba if stayed and played as the most advanced midfielder.

Even if Mata plays on the right (which is crap) I doubt Ole would play two hobbits in his starting eleven *which is crap)

But that’s what I mean about being naive because you expect Gomes to deputise for a first 11 player over four comps.

I like mata. Very hit or miss and dosent really suit our style that well, but he’s a top guy, some of the flash tw@ts at the club could learn a lot from him worth keeping on if not to start, to pick locks when the pace merchants can’t.

Ivor Biggun wrote the perfect song for so many of the deadbeats posting on here.

United are in a mess and the best some of the mugs can do is blame the likes of Mata.

Plus, there are players that are getting regular first team appearances that should be way closer to the exit than the likes of Jones and Smalling.

If united are serious about getting out of this current habit of being serial losers, then they really need things like Mata's intelligence and creativity, and proper centre backs that can actually defend.

Good to see all of them are staying, it's the likes of martial, rashford and lingard that need to go. Lingard, in particular, is a kind of unfunny 'joke'.
