Hate VAR

Watching the U21 and Women's World Cup, I am horrified at how far VAR is being incorporated into the game. As a failsafe for contact in the box, or offsides, I sort of agree with it. But it's getting ridiculous with keepers not being allowed even a couple of centimetres off their lines, some extremely dodgy handballs and some plain bad decisions. Train referees and linesman to be as good as they can be and just accept some decisions will be wrong. Retrospective bans for diving and cheating should be introduced. I don't want a sanitised version of the game.

Fantasy football tip. Get as many penalty takers in your team as possible next season. Will be an incredible amount of penalties

Yeah, doing the "Mane"

Lean back in the box, see any defender with any part of their arms visible, lift the ball against their arms, and then chase the ref calling for VAR.

I predict 5 calls for VAR for penalties in every game.

How many cards for simulation did did spurs get last season how many did Liverpool

VAR is just an enabler. The referees are still making the calls.

The keepers coming off the line has been a rule for ages that the refs SHOULD have enforced when everyone could see keepers weren't on their lines.

Didn't need VAR for them to get these calls right but if that's what it takes then so be it. Should also be for players who are in the area when penalties are taken too, but they also seem to ignore that every time.

Did you see the Scottish keeper one last night?

She wasn’t off her line!

You have to take some form of forward step to gain momentum to go either way.

It was a caaaaaaant of a call.

Agreed...but that was the red's decision. The original pen decision went to var but I don't think the retake did

I don't mind VAR telling me someone has dived or the ball has crossed the line - but when it comes to a player 20 cm off the line for a penalty, or a handball less than a metre away - come on! And some of the VAR penalty decisions are atrocious! WTF are they coming from?
