Best player in history

Haven't done an article in so long, it's friday so f*ck it.

Inspired by the departure of who I consider to be our best ever player(not to be confused with greatest ever player) I thought i'd see who everyone elses were. So...

Best player talent wise at your club: Hazard just(JUST) edging out zola

Greatest player at your club: Older lot may say Ossie, but I think it's gotta be Lampard edging out JT

Your favourite ever player: JT/Zola

Soft spot: Gus Poyet...kind of forgotten about as he p*ssed everyone off going to spurs and kissing the badge. Left foot, right foot, strong, good in the air. Best all round midfielder we had before Frank.

Ah.... JT should be joint greatest alongside Lamps. Best captain in club’s history imo.

Best: Osgood, but honorable mentions for Zola, Hazard and Drogba.
Greatest: Frank Lampard
Favourite: Charlie Cooke
Soft spot: Pierluigi Casiraghi, who as everyone knows got badly injured early on in his Chelsea career so we'll never know if he was gna be a legend or not.

Sorry but no soft spot from me for Poyet, it lacked class what he did IMO. I don't even like it when they wheel him out as a pundit for our games.

Your best player was Jimmy Greaves who scored over 100 league goals whilst still only 20. Agreed it never had a long Stamford Bridge career, just four seasons, but he has to be one of your all time greats.

Good call Sandy! Thank you for acknowledging the great man.

And what about Robert Victor? He took up Greaves' mantle, and went on to break scoring records himself. Both men should surely be contenders for greatest players. Their misfortune to be in a different era, and therefore their efforts did not contribute to winning cups etc. But both still massive heroes for folk like me

Evening Sandy, Greavsie, would have to be considered among one of our greatest on his goals per game ratio alone. Unfortunately I was too young to see him in a Chelsea shirt as I was only about 2 when we sold him.

As Bloo said Bobby turned out not too shabby a replacement and the spear head of our attack, when God looked down favourably and decided I should support Chelsea.

Not only was he a fantastic goalscorer but I can say, after having the pleasure of meeting him twice, he is an absolute gentleman.

However, the striker in the nine shirt as i got older and more aware was Ossie. I always thought he was one of the most graceful, athletic footballers I've ever seen and will always have a place in my heart.

The reason i haven't put my list on this thread is that having lived through so many era's of our history i find it hard to separate the best from the best.

The Bonnie Prince, Tommy Baldwin, Chopper, The Cat, Hudson, Houseman, Nevin, Dixon, JFH, Eidur, Lamps, JT, Drogba, Cole (x 2) Hazard, Gian Franco, Makalele, Kante, Essie - how do you separate many of them?

As Sandy says Greavsie was a ledge at our Club with those goal stats but unfortunately I never got to see him play for us as I am too young which is why his supreme talent is sometimes inadvertently overlooked even by us oldies. As good as he was for us his best work took place at Spurs.
