AC Milan have struck a deal with Uefa to serve a one-year ban from European football over breaches of Financial Fair Play rules.
The club, which finished fifth in Italy's Serie A, will miss next season's Europa League.
Uefa will end its proceedings against the Italians for overspending, said the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).
"AC Milan is excluded from Uefa club competitions of the sporting season 2019-2020," said Cas.

Man, these guys get all the luck don’t they? On another note, this is why Inter are trying to get Lukaku on a cheap deal. All these Italian clubs, bar Juve, are in danger of breaching FFP.
Milan banned from Europe

Milan were initially going to get a two year ban (for repeated rule breaches already) but appealed to CAS, who overruled it and said as long as you get your finances in order then that’s ok. Theirs has been missing loan repayments and continually breaching the break even target.
They then breached again though so went to uefa with this offer to stop the two year ban from happening, which CAS have also agreed to (which is why it is a Consent order rather than a sanction). They’ve come out of it far better than Uefa initially wanted to and now have got another year to sort themselves out.
With City, that accusation is linked to the same reporting period that we were already sanctioned for, but alleges that the Etihad sponsorship payment was paid from elsewhere (potentially Mansour depending on how the emails are interpreted) and the charge is misleading investigators.
In terms of the criminal law element, there is no accusation or evidence around that, both Etihads and City’s accounts are independently audited by law already. If there was issues with that though, that would likely be more against Etihad (and the independent accountants, who I have a memory were PWC for us, the same as Uefa).

I’ve seen you mention it before about City getting a transfer ban for ffp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I have always been of the opinion a transfer ban would hurt them more not that I think that's the rule.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We already suffered squad limitation and a hefty fine for FFP violation.
Not sure what else you want.
If City is banned, it will be the equivalent of missing out on top 4 for one season.
Nothing much other than that it could give us an advantage in the league and cups.

If they ban you from the CL for one season, you'd walk thrPL title. It's not much of a punishment.
Only way to hurt a team backed by a shiekh is to stop them buying players if they break the rules.

Guys, this was a voluntary request by Milan so that they can reinforce their squad for next season.
Don't compare this to City's situation where UEFA is merely saying that they were misled on the actual source of fund.

What punishment were they facing then?

They're going to have to sign Messi, it's the only way Pep has ever got past a UCL semi final

Aren't City being investigated for a similar offence?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it’s a completely different accusation and charge to Milan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Milan overspent, got busted and now punished.
City overspent, but tried to over it up through false accounting.
Certainly the threat of a UEFA punishment but potentially a fraud issue too? criminal law that is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
City are threatening to take any breaches of law by a cartel of clubs/UEFA restricting competition to the law courts.
