before Aurier arrived we wanted experienced, aggressive, fullback that had won things..albeit in other leagues. why do we think he’s not good enough to start?
I might be in the minority but I would have preferred him to start over trippier, especially in the champions league final.
Fans seem to have short memories. I recall when he was asked to play left back against Ronaldo and effectively kept him quiet for the whole match whilst playing on his weaker side.
I would like to see Trippier sold and Aurier start games until January with KWP and/or Sessegnon twins as back up for full back positions.
If by January Aurier is not good enough after starting most games then we should look for alternatives but until then..save the money sign a creative mid (Lo Celso) and a back up striker (Kruse or Maxi Gomez).

As quoted the selling of Walker completely changed the dynamics of the team, unfortunate that, since then the combinations of fullbacks has just not worked and poch has had to change systems as often as fullbacks,Aurier and Trippier do not fit in to the preferred system need to be replaced

In my opinion it's his mentality that's the issue. He's strong, quick and good enough technically but he seems to have the odd moment that he switches off or makes a rash tackle. If he gets his head sorted yes he's totally good enough to start.

In Poch’s book he states that he was unsure whether to bring up the defeat to Newcastle at the last game of the season - having not seen all the players together alone after the game or during the summer due to the Euros. He mentions about the mentality during that game and players thinking of themselves instead of the team.
Then low and behold the next opportunity he had to de-brief was when they were all due to meet for pre-season. Walker drifts in late. He was enraged and spoke at great length about life, commitment, hunger and the team etcetc. Safe to say I think that was the moment Walker became less thought of or dispensable imho.
That Newcastle defeat left a Poch with a scar.

Ah never heard that story - I'm not sure if that's what caused Walker to leave though.
Remember being really frustrated when poch didnt start Walker in the FA cup semi final against Chelsea, the last NLD at WHL and the last game at WHL against United - despite Walker being our best player that season.
This was around the time Walker put in his transfer request - cant remember if the transfer request came because he wasnt getting played or if he wasnt getting played because of the transfer request
