Poch and the loan system...

Does he understand it? Players like Njie and Nkoudou could have been brought to Spurs on loans if Poch was never 100% sure about them.

Poch and Levy should learn to use the loan system better. Players like Kovacic, Gomes and Tielemans were all in the prem on loan and could have helped our season. The same attitude needs to be applied this coming season to maximise our potential especially if cash is an issue for Levy.

If Ceballos is available on loan then we would be stupid not to do a deal especially if Eriksen is going the other way. We made the same mistake last year in not taking Tielemans when we sent Nkoudou the other way.

Could he though?
The others you've names were bought by their clubs, didn't do well enough and the clubs looked to sell the loans were in place to get them off the books and put them in the window (Chelsea were able to sign someone who was hit and miss for them last season due to being registered with them, so not going against their transfer ban).

It’s not how Poch works though is it. Rightly or wrongly he A) expects a high level of commitment from his players and B) likes to mould them into his style (including fitness expectations). He’s said before that this is why signings like Moura take a few months to get into the first team.

Loanees wouldn’t have either have these things and it just wouldn’t be a Poch thing to do. He doesn’t entertain short term fixes.

Also it’s very unlikely that Nkoudou / Njie would have been available for loan - what would their parent clubs get out of the deal? Losing a potential star for a season for nothing? The benefit for them is the transfer fee. Loans work for players that for whatever reasons aren’t fitting in at their clubs or ones that can’t get into the first team going to a lesser team to get game time.

So yeah I’d love a Real Loanee but I can’t see it happening!

I`m not a fan of loaning in younger players, why should we pay to train and develop another clubs up and coming players, only for them to be taken back to their parent club after they have improved and done well under our tutelage.

We are a big club near the top of the food chain, so should be using lesser clubs to develop our players, not the other way around.

It`s different with loaning in older established players though, they have nothing to prove and we wouldnt be increasing the value of another clubs player by reviving a players career. Take Bale for example, he is the type of profile of player we should have no problem with loaning in.

There's definitely advantages in using the loan system wisely. Shouldn't be ignored due to arrogance or pride.
We could have definitely done with any of those 3 aforementioned loanees. Fortune and luck got us into 4th spot. We probably wouldn't be so relaxed if we finished 5th and half the squad looking to exit for champs league clubs.
