Barca looking to cash in to fund their Griezmann and Neymar deals. Some media outlets saying £44m could prize him away. He did have fitness issues last season though which is a worry. However he's never had any major injuries before apparently.
Better option than Maguire? I don't mind Maguire tbh but if he is going to cost £90m then I'd say he surely has to be too expensive, even for us.
Dembele looks like he could be off to Bayern too. Shame as I'd love him here however I have a feeling we will wait for Sancho. If we get into the CL next season then I think there's a good chance we will get him next summer.
What do we think? Would Umtiti be somebody the club looks at? I have my doubts but he'd definitely be open to the move you'd think given he's no longer first choice at Barca.

Sods law says if he went to Utd he would play max 20 games a season. If he went to Juve or whoever he would play 40+ games a season for the rest of his career.
Anyway he's short for a CB, you need big concrete heads like Maguire.

Not sure Cartlidge injuries are a problem for 25 year olds. Unless it is one that can't be dealt with Laser surgery, maybe.

Was for me when I was 19. I could never play again after surgery. Tried a few times but always ended up injuring the same knee.
But then I didn't have the best surgeons in the world at my disposal. A guy who works for me who was semi professional and got treatment done via his club, was back playing in two months, although his injury was not as bad as mine.

Seen quite a lot of stuff written about he quite fancies the move at some point. Been quite a few cheeky guys filming him on his hols telling him to come and he's smiled and laughed. Some rapper who was at Glasto is apparently a big Utd fan and a close pal of his. He's also good mates with several of our first team due to his Manchester links.
I think he will be our mega signing if we make the CL.

Or what if he turns out to be a highly talented player who shone brightly but briefly and never went on to realise his promise? I mean, he looks really promising but it would be reckless to overlook every other highly talented young attacking player in the twin assumptions that he wants to come to United and there isn't anyone better out there. Even the idea that he's better than Dembele at this stage is pretty open for debate.

I am with you totally. I'd pick Dembele everytime over Sancho on natural talent alone and seems he'd be cheaper.
The major worry with O.Dembele- and it is major - is his attitude. Sancho does seem to want it more than Dembele.
I'd steer clear of Umtiti. His injury worries are genuine and there is a glaring reason Barca are selling for a relative pittance.

This is the way to do it. What Fergie used to do and what Klopp is now doing is instead of signing several players who arent exactly what you need with the budget you have, you sign one or two, then over time you will have a top team of players you want. Rather than have the wheel and deal every season, hoping to strike lucky right away for each season.
