City to match United's bid

Reports coming out that City will match United's £70m bid for Maguire. And Maguire wishes for the move to happen (BBC).

Looks like City might save us from making such a large signing. Though, knowing our luck, he'll be a huge hit at City.

"My question was how would Maguire handing in a transfer request make Leicester any more likely to sell. "

Well actually, your question was how does it change anything.

People explained that for you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was asked in the context of how would a transfer request make Leicester more likely to sell.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And you received an answer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I disagree. Leicester arent about to flog Maguire for £70m because the player drops his claim for a pay off. Otherwise it would have been done by now wouldnt it?

That's fine, disagree all you like.

You asked how a player handing in a transfer request changes things and you received an answer.

Hope this helps.

He has already 'reportedly' made Leicester aware of his wishes. How does a formal transfer request change anything?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well he’s asked to leave and in doing so is asking for his contract to be broken.

If a club decides to sell they have to come to an agreement over the players contract, paying them off. If the player hands in a request then they dont.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We were talking on the context of how a transfer request would somehow weaken Leicesters attempts at keeping him.
