rumour of the day-gareth bale

yesterday it was McGuire today this discussion will be Gareth bale, rumour 456 of the summer says that Madrid with their continuous pursuit of pogba now want to include bale in any deal? what do we make of that, a player past his prime on huge wages seems the perfect fit for ed?

in all seriousness if pogba wants out then get rid and I would be happy if we can recoup close to 100mill for him, bale on the other hand if Madrid paid half his wages for a year I guess he could be useful for a season, think this pogba situation is going to be dragged out all summer

Elvis.
I would say Bale is a leader for Wales. Other players look up to him, especially the younger ones. He does tend to lead by his performances rather than being vocal. Granted, his performances haven’t been good in Wales’ last two games, but not sure how much that is down to lack of playing time for Real.
We seem to be trying to invest in youth at Utd at present, so he could be someone the youngsters here look up to as well.
He’s a risk though, and I agree with Diafol, the deal would need to be a loan or cut price on vastly reduced wages. If he’s willing to accept that, I would go in for him for the short term benefit he might well hring to the club.

Morning Babyen.

He was poor for Wales the last two games. No doubt about that but that could be down to not being sharp and also being low on confidence too.

He has led by example for Wales though for years so there is something in there. If he truly wanted to come to United, had a point to prove, and with his wages and fee being very much reduced then I wouldn't be against him signing. How likely that is though then who knows.

I can actually see him going to somewhere like Bayern or Inter towards the end of the window for a cut price fee if I'm honest. As a Wales fan I'd be happy with that.

Morning Diafol.
I think the point you bring up about him truly wanting to come to us is an important factor, as is the desire to prove himself.
As a Wales fan I would like to see him playing regular club football, wherever he ends up.

I don't blame him for keeping quiet about leaving Madrid. He saying all the right things in terms of 'I want to stay' so I don't understand the criticism of him from some quarters in that respect. We'd have been delighted to hear De Gea or Pogba say that for example. It's Real's problem if they want rid and we can't demand loyalty from players if the clubs don't show the same back.

From a Wales perspective I want him back and firing asap as we need at least 6 points from our next 3 games if we have any chance of qualifying for the Euros. An on form Bale will be a massive help towards that.

Nah, he’s done. Too expensive, too injury prone, huge question marks over his fitness and also whether he has the desire or right attitude these days.

Done?!?

He played a huge part in winning the CL just a year ago and still had an ok season in a side that massively underperformed.

For the reasons I gave I think he's done and not worth bringing in. I'm sure he can still have the odd great game and get ok stats but for the cost he isn't worth it.

Rumours that he isn't willing to move or take a pay cut and is happy to sit on the bench and take his huge wage (which he's fully entitled to do) combined with his age and what he has already achieved makes me think he possibly isn't the type of player mentally that we need at this club either.

We shouldn't be going anywhere near Bale

-----------------------

not even on loan for a year?
if say Madrid paid half his wages and no obligation to buy
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We need to be thinking long term now and Bale will not be part of that.

He turned us down on 2 occasions in the past. He made his bed, he should lie in it
