Only a few weeks until the start of the season, and Spurs still have not sorted out their defence, which was absolutely the weakest point of the team last season in my opinion. Couldn`t defend set pieces, especially corners, all parts of the defence were at fault, not just the fullbacks. All good teams have to have the defence sorted before any other part of the team. Constant rotation last season obviously didn`t help, and hopefully Poch must surely have learnt that a settled side is the best way forward. 60 games last season, and not one unchanged side. Surely that has to stop next season.
To be honest I haven`t a clue what is our current best defence at the moment, none covered themselves in glory last season, and both Toby and Verts are now a year older. Will Poch be putting his trust more in Foyth and Sanchez, eventually he will have to.
Still have not shipped any players out, which by now I would have thought two or three minimum would have gone, to raise some money to bring new players in. And what is to become of players like Moura, if he cannot command a regular spot, despite his semi-final hat-trick, I would suspect he will want out eventually, I suspect he must be bitterly disappointed at getting left out of the final.
To be honest I personally haven`t a clue who will be starting against Villa, I suppose we may get some clues with the pre season teams. I was hoping all new players would have been purchased by now, and when training starts shortly, they would have all integrated into the team, but I suspect, despite yesterday`s signing, it will be left right until the last minute again, before we see any more new players turn up, if any.
