Big Opportunity via Lampard and Arsenal

Lampard joining Chelsea should even the scales a lot more between us and them. They now look weaker now imo.

Arsenal are desperately in need of investment just to stand still but are currently trying to buy players with food stamps.

Even with the current squad, I believe we should be looking to finish above these next season.

If we can improve as a team by 20-30% that should be enough to get us into the CL and then hopefully we can further optimize our squad the following summer with 1-2 more CL-proven options.

Not sure what nonsense this is, but we are weaker because hazard has left and we have a transfer ban. Not because of our manager.

Lampard has managed one season in the Championship. Are you saying he's already better than Sarri? Think you might be blinkered a bit there mate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
why would I be saying that? sarri won nothing before he arrived. Same as Lampard. I'm not expecting us to get top 4 or anything next year, the hiring of lampard will not be the main factor behind that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Poch has won nothing. Still one of best managers around.

Sarri managed numerous seasons in the CL and did well with Napoli. And he managed to secure you 3rd and the EL trophy. That puts him on another level to Lampard and Ole for that matter.

We should realistically be aiming for third spot, but we need to strengthen in midfield through serious improvement in the players we have or investment in fresh blood.

We should be aiming for 1st. We won't get it, we know that, but we should aim to get as many pts as we can.

If Spurs keep Kane fit this season, I think they will get 3rd. Ndombele is a top signing for them.

Chelsea,Arsenal and United will battle for 4th. Leicester and Wolves could be in the top 6 hunt too however have my doubts on Wolves with them being in Europe. That competition will be tough on them over a PL season.

“We won’t get it, we know that....”

That’s why I used the qualifier ‘realistically’.

Not having a pop. I just don't like us giving up. Not overly fond of Ole saying what he said about next season either. We know we are very unlikely to win it but saying it aloud is giving up before a ball is kicked.

Liverpool went from 6pts behind United and 4th place to almost winning the title in one season. It can be done. Obviously the investment at Liverpool last summer (and the January with VVD) was near enough bang on the money.

It was a good run of fortune too...No injuries to main players, no distractions with FA or LC games

The spending was needed but just felt a bit hypocritical

Other than City is cert for 1st again, I don't think you could with any certainty say where the other clubs will finish in the top 6?

That's not fortune or luck.

As soon as anyone even felt a tightness they were brought of and protected and this happened throughout the season. We actually did have our fair share of injuries anyway which is why we had Fabinho at CB against Bayern for example. Ox missed the season, Lallana most of it, Matip wasn't allowed to play due to some daft rule even though he'd retired, Henderson missed plenty as did Mane and Keita.

Ole ran everyone into the ground to get the fitness up (which he had to) and they broke down. Dembele has openly said he could not continue to train under Poch's methods.

Klopp threw the cups (much to my annoyance at the time) and that was a straight up choice.

There's no luck in that.
