Nice to see Frank back - but......

It seems to have gone under the radar a bit that Jody Morris is also returning with him.

With his unrivaled knowledge of the academy and it's players, I personally think that's every bit as important, given his managerial experience with the development squad and the need to blood some young players, as the appointment of Frank himself.

We obviously won't be fighting for the title, or even top four this season but I'm as excited as I've been for a long time about an approaching football season and the prospect of some of our kids getting a fair crack of the whip for a change!

===============

That's what I said in another article.

The club will build an experienced setup for Frank to succeed so it won't be him left to his own device.

They will support him. They'll get more ex-players from the club for support and guidance.

Are you trying to come across as some sort of ITK?

Yup Jody Morris is going to be integral for many reasons including his success and experience with the academy players and I definitely see this as a Lamps+Morris managerial team as much as anything

I thought it was an excellent press conference, obviously managers say what you want to hear.
But I thought he was concise, seems to know exactly what he wants.
It will help greatly he will have CFC people around him and even better , he has played for some of the best managers ever, he will have a wealth of managerial experience just a phone call away should he need it.
Maybe just maybe this is what we have needed for a long time
Hopefully stability for a few years.
From what he said, kante goes back to I think he's best position and I am sure Hudson Odoi and Cheek sign the 5 year contracts within next week or so, that would be a big boost for the club and us

Evening Brummie, I think you will definitely be challenging top four and all the cups again. You still have a decent squad, despite the transfer ban.

Lamps is surrounding himself with top coaches with real Chelsea ties

On paper I dont think he could be setting himself up any better. To be seen how he fares up against the absolute best managers now tho

Joe Edwards will be useful to Frank. This guy really played a big part in the youth team winning trophies galore. He was recognised and fast tracked by the club through the age groups and will know many of the homegrown players, indeed he took Jody Morris on as his assistant. I'm hoping for some breakthroughs from the youth but at the same time believe we should introduce them gradually apart from the truly gifted that look ready like CHO, otherwise RLC model with loans then a place in the squad is still the best policy as this gives them playing time on loan at another PL club and they can be monitored more accurately at a level they are needed to play at. Foe some time now I've been advocating that back up players should be from within the club and not purchased to send out the message that youth are given opportunities.

Very good questions by the press in attendance. Could be reading a little too much into one media gathering but there appeared to be a sense of not putting pressure on him, which might bode extremely well for us with Lampard - if they want him to succeed (being a young English manager).

The naming his own title question made me laugh. I think every new manager of ours is doomed to hear that question in their opening press conference until someone surpasses Mourinho's achievements for us. I'm waiting for the day one manager of ours takes the p!ss out of it and gives a Daenerys Targaryen answer - lists a paragraphs' worth of titles

From Lampard himself, very good. Played down expectations well, did his best to distance himself from favoritism while acknowledging he will get certain advantages because of who he is, was calm, concise. Very good

Good point Bov, Joe did a fantastic job with the kids before Jody took over, having the pair of them will really help them. Joe's from the Worcester park area, one of my biking mates drinks with his dad occasionally.

Derby just hired Cocu as Lampard's replacement.

Not too shabby. The Championship's got some pull these days.
