If Spurs managed to add to the excellent signing of NDombele with some of the quality already linked - Lo Celso/Olmo/Cabellos etc - would it be worth hanging on to Llorente for another season.
He certainly played his part last season.
Llorente

I think Llorente did enough in the final few months of the season to earn another year.
Age is of no concern as he has never had any pace.
As we saw with the cl final Kane decides when Kane plays and not many other strikers are going to put up with that.

He did well when we lumped the ball to him especially in the CL semi but in most games he was average.. People just remember the odd good one. We are being linked with younger, exciting, dynamic players and we cant afford to be carrying anyone..Carried a couple last season.
He will be 35 in 6 months. At the top level its hard playing as a striker at that age. We can do better and need to move on.

We got 1 goal out of him in the league in 20 appearances. 8 out of him overall in 35, but those stats were boosted by a hat-trick against Tranmere. Divock Origi by comparison got 7 goals in 20, and 3 in 11 in the league.
As far as support strikers go we need better.

That doesn't make great reading but what price the winner against Watford and the goal that got us through against City?
Just can't see a quicker younger striker putting up with it being the Harry Kane show. We need to bring one through the academy.

Llorente more of an assist man than a goal scorer!

I think sometimes, better the devil you know.
Unless you have a great transfer lined up, maybe Llorente is the reliable option.

Those goals make him worthy in isolation, but overall we need to look for better. Someone who can make an impact in more games.
We've had him for 2 seasons. His first season in the league he got 1 goal in 16 and the second he got 1 in 20. At 34 years of age these stats aren't going to improve much.

I'm not saying he's great (far from it) but who else wants to sit on our bench waiting for Kane to do his ankle again.
As I said we need to bring one through which with our set up shouldn't be beyond us.

I think the poster has a good question.
Question really is how old is Llorente?
And does he want to play an extra season?
Fenando Llorente is the reason we got past Ajax in the CL. He's a big tall guy and very good header. Ajax just didn't know how to play him.
The result was that Lucas got way more opportunities to score than he otherwise would have because attention was going to Llorente.
If he wants to stay, and depending upon the cost, and whatever else old Baldy can come up with, I'd say Keep him.
