As it stands next season we'll have these players for midfield:

Pogba
Pereira
McT
Matic
Fred

plus some of the youngsters and possibly Mata and Lingard too.

It seems to suggest to me that we won't be buying anyone unless we sell one or more of Pogba, Matic, Fred or loan out Pereira (as his 4 year deal means we could get a tidy sum next summer after a loan spell).

I think we’ll get at least one in. We started last season with all of those plus Herrera and Fellaini

I do hope we get a bit more quality in there myself but what I think has changed is that potentially McT and Pereira will expect more games now than they would have last year.

I can see at least one sale (or loan at least) as well from that lot. Wouldn't surprise me if it were someone who we didn't expect to leave (like Matic).

Agree.

In light of today's news I reckon the chances of buying one rather than two midfielders becomes more likely.

But you never know if Matic or Fred might suddenly get sold.

Can't be bothered writing an article but the latest news is that Inter have offered £10m and Nainggolan for Matic. Not sure how much truth there is in that though and what I think but I'm sure when I've seen the Belgian he's been more mobile than Matic.

With just those options we NEED a n established player ready to step in and perform from the off rather than a youngster like Longstaff.

id take 10 million for matic

From what I've read Inter need to sell Nainggolan for at least 30m euros to stop them making an FFP loss. I suppose if they sell get Matic and give us £10m Nainggolan would be classed as £30m for them so they'd actually be ahead FFP wise.

If there is any truth in us being happy seeing Matic go though then that could suggest we could see a midfielder coming in.
