The usual summer minefield

Every summer since Jansson has been at the club there's been uncertainty and fear about whether he might be off or not. Who needs it?

Whatever he's like as a player, there's an unpredictability about him in his make-up that makes you wonder if he's totally committed to the cause, whatever he says on social media. There have been quotes that he claims were taken out of context or misunderstood, rumours of disagreements with coaches behind the scenes. Who knows what he's like in the dressing room in front of his team mates?

In the end it all adds up and you can't be having someone who at any moment is going to question the authority of the boss, display a poor attitude and show outright indiscipline.

I'm deeply disappointed but ultimately, get rid. That applies to anyone else who isn't keen on Bielsa's methods. These players are in a privileged position - playing a sport they love and being handsomely paid for it. They don't slog their guts out for 40 hours a week. I concede that it's a relatively short career and they want to make the most of it, but without commitment and discipline they're unlikely to succeed. You need everybody pulling in the same direction.

I'm with Bielsa on this one.

My beef is with Radrizzani and co. Why wait until a month before the season starts to sort this out if they knew there were problems at the end of last season? That is unless there has been a recent, rapid deterioration in the relationship? Who knows what the truth is?

This has really soured the good work of the past week and I fully expect AR and co to go out and sign a quality replacement - unless the £15 million or so from the player sales so far is going into storage to pay for Costa at the end of the season.

We may have continuity at the club - what we don't appear to have is stability or a sound financial footing. Don't you just get sick of all the rumours and drama ?
