Are we in for a repeat of the mahrez shinanigans
With maguire
If city fail to sign a defender and come in for him with 2 days to go
Hopefully we have learnt our lesson and it'll be January if we have no one signed
Man. City & Maguire

The Guardian also suggested Manchester Utd might want to weaken another top six rival !
The pundits are talking us up this year. Would be good if they got it right for once .

I did enjoy this paragraph from the Guardian on the subject of Maguire:
"With Manchester United on the hunt for a centre-back who could do for them what Virgil van Dijk has done for Liverpool, it is no wonder they are sniffing around Leicester City. After all, if Van Dijk’s solidity is encapsulated in that oft-repeated statistic about no player managing to dribble past him last season, then it makes sense for United to pursue the defender who was just below the Dutchman in that ranking, the next best. Taking due care to eliminate daft outliers by restricting analysis to central defenders who played at least 1,500 minutes in last season’s Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjær is no doubt aware that at the heart of Leicester’s rearguard there was a colossus who was beaten once by a dribble in the entire campaign. So the only question is: are United willing to go as high as £90m for Wes Morgan?"

Funny to think that, when we bought Wes Morgan for £1m back in the day, a lot of us looked around at each other and went "Well he's alright, but it seems like a waste of money considering we have Matt Mills and Sean St. Ledger."

I saw Sean play here in Florida for Orlando but he left without no reason? Or none that was explained...

Wasn't playing
Wasn't big enough
Wasn't athletic enough
Wasn't good enough

I am guilty of being one of those people who didn’t really see the point.
I also remember Jack Hobbs subsequently going to Forest and a big debate on who was the better player.
True pro is Wes - but probably unlikely to move to Man Utd for £90m at this stage in his career.

I remember the suggestion that Jack Hobbs was going to be England captain one day.

Maguire is another Stones. Just average, run of the mill. His defensive stats are not that impressive. Those comparing him with Van Dijk - please! If Leicester can get anywhere near 80 mil for him, they deserve an Oscar.

I don't know, he seems pretty settled in China.

Great stuff Joby 😂
I was also nonplussed by Morgan when he came to us. He seemed a steady away championship centreback, of which we already had 3.
Then we got promoted and we expected him to be replaced, but he became a steady away premier league centreback to many’s surprise.
Then he went on to become a steady away premier league title winning captain. You know, one of those run of the mill types.
I guess that £1m was pretty well spent looking back.
He’s coming to the end of his career now, but if there’s ever a player to look at for a reason for slightly limited footballers to be more professional and dedicated than more talented players, Wes is your man.
As for Maguire, I just don’t think City are in for him at a price we’d consider.
