The stick he gets on here and other places is way over the top, he had a poor season with some high profile errors but he is still a decent full back. Of course he has weaknesses such as lack of pace but he can still be a good squad player for us.

Last season he may well have been carrying a knock which affected his performances after a good World Cup. Some fans with short memories appear to have singled out Trips as a scapegoat when other players have also made major errors (Lloris, Sanchez) and they don`t get anywhere near the same amount of flack.

Players reading fans criticisms can not be good for confidence, I always try to get behind whoever pulls on our shirt regardless of previous performances.

Sorry but Trippier is a serious weak link and needs to be replaced. Liverpool had weaknesses and did something about them. Spurs have to do the same.

Definitely a weak link. No one has a problem with him as a back up but he should not start. Especially with the tactics that Poch employs

I agree with Sandy.
Trippier's main weakness is his inability to run back.
He's cost us on many occasions .... one I can never forget was the CL match against Juve when Dybala blasted pass Trippier like he was a tortoise and banged the ball past Lloris. Game over!

Truth is we have never replaced Walker...who IS one of the fastest "run backers" in the Prem.
We have needed a REAL replacement for Walker ever since.

Trips has made more mistakes that others and it looks like he has been found out and is being targeted as the weak link in the team. He simply cannot be first choice.

Foyth will be playing right back anyway

i think you are right re Foyth, but i hope not. i don't trust him at all. he has a big error / rash decision in him every single time he plays. Loads of ability but is he ready to play week in week out for a team chasing the title? (which is what we need to aim for).

Foyth is not ready for the Prem. Watched him play for Argentina .... just not good enough, better than Tripper in some areas, not in others.
What we need is a new Walker.
