I’ve never seen such instability at Arsenal before (understandable due to not much changing in 2 decades), but for the first time I’m seeing this club face situations they’ve not faced before, and it comes due to several factors but I see one main and that’s Emery. He’s not got the respect of the players. Several reports have come out to say certain players don’t really rate him or like him. Wenger for all his faults never ever had any reports of players saying anything of that nature. Not saying we need Wenger back, no way but just pointing out this difference. Even Fergie had some reports of players saying some negative things about him but Wenger? I don’t recall.
With the lack of ambition shown by the club and this instability within the squad where club is trying to off load Özil and the club captain Koscielny refusing to go on pre season tour, it’s not a very good look. Likes of Fabregas had in past not played when their future at Arsenal looked to be finished but it was handled with finesse so not to give Arsenal a bad image. This handling of Kos has been amateur. The upcoming season could possibly be the worst yet. We need some strong leadership starting from the manager, Emery has to get full respect from the squad. At the moment I don’t see where it’s coming from. The owner isn’t going anywhere either.
I do believe in future Arsenal will return to the top. The foundations laid in Wenger years has given the club a very strong base. Players will always want to come to Arsenal, they may not be the top quality ones but majority would. In the same way Liverpool managed to attract a few stars in their mid table years few years back, the same way utd can get some nowadays. But for next 2-3 years I’m not holding my breath of us returning to top 4. We’ve been rebuilding time and time again but either we go young again (see Ajax) or get rid of unwanted players and invest in players who are clearly talented but bigger teams aren’t willing to bank on them. The money clearly isn’t going to be proved for proven quality.

If we miss out on CL next season I think we're probably heading for total ruin and a drop towards genuine mid table.
The financials just don't add up any more, we don't have any young players with potentially high resale value and our current top players will likely be leaving for far less than replacements would cost.
If by some miracle Guendouzi and Torreira become genuine world class players then cashing in may give us that break we need but it's highly unlikely now

But but but I thought once you moved to the emirates you would be competing at the top table and the sacrifice would be worth it
What’s happened?
Have you been duped ?

Bad management on and off field as well as some genuinely unlucky timings of global financial events but for the most part it's been down to the former two.
The new stadium hasn't really hindered and did in fact provide a good opportunity to grow. We were and still are spending way more than other clubs (although things are changing) and plenty have seen more success during the same period (not necessarily trophies but better all round performance).

If we won EL Zaha, Tierney and even someone better would have been in LA now. One game could be decisive for the future of our club.

Not getting CL football has really killed us for the last 3 seasons

I share your sentiments, 50. I am very worried about Arsenal Football Club and how we doing business and what is going on at the club especially off the field.

I don't see much evidence of players somehow having more respect for Wenger than Emery. For sure, Emery looks more likely to fall out with players, cos he actually steps on toes and doesn't instill any sense in players that they are in a comfort zone. But this doesn't mean he doesn't command respect. We haven't seen open dissent against him.
Not to mention Fabregas pretty much went on strike before his Barca move despite that Wenger was supposed to be some kind of "father figure" to him.
In any case, one reason Wenger was less likely than most managers to fall out with players is he wasn't anything like the intense, demanding figures that are Mourinho or Pep or Fergie.

As a United fan it seems both our clubs are going through an identity crisis, Wenger and Ferguson defined both clubs for decades and it seems impossible to effectively move on.
Unlike you we’ve through countless hundreds of thousands at it in a galáctico Frenzy but until the next cult figure comes along a rudderless feeling abounds, the rise of Liverpool is Klopp he just gets the club and the job and the fans adore him so now they move on.
Chelsea never let the cult exist bar Jose and somehow they thrive on the uncertainty of it all but at the moment neither of our clubs have anything the players or all the fans buy into and unpopular owners, tough year ahead for both and a real fight coming from behind for top four

Think United will eventually find a way back as the money will always be there.
That said I can see it getting worse for both clubs in the short to medium term with Arsenal potentially not catching up for decades

The buck stops with the man at the top of the tree, the owner.

This is all the WOBs fault. Letting Kroenke get away with murder by being utterly gullible falling for the decoy, Arsene Wenger. Protests have come too late we are already done
