If you were a Newcastle United fan?

I've been to see Chelsea play at St James park on a few occasions. First time being that FA Cup replay in 96. Where i genuinely thought i was making the trip home next to a gloating Geordie Uncle.

I sat amongst the home fans that night. Their fans are tremendous.

They've got seriously loyal fans. But how much more do they have to tolerate?

Because whether we would want to admit it or not, Rafa to Steve Bruce is a massive step down.

It suggests to me, the 'takeover' is probably unlikely at best.

Would you in the Newcastle fans consider the unthinkable and actually give up your season ticket?

Football is supposed to take you to a happy place, your home stadium is (to me) like a church where you go and for the best part of 3 hours, any problems you have in your life don't exist.

I think Mike Ashley's Newcastle United (if i were a fan) would depress me.

I once spoke to a Newcastle fan who said, his ultimate fear every season was a Newcastle number 9 being on an excellent start in goals tally by the end of August because he just knew Ashley would have him sold. For that reason he was delighted when our transfer window was moved forward.

There are worse owners than Ashley and I'm pleased Newcastle isn't one of those weird far east consortium clubs who's owner's are unknown and opaque.

20m?

In the Premier League that's nothing.

Fair enough thought they'd bought him.

The guy that feels the need to type his username after every post with the cat emoji is definitely on a watchlist somewhere.

a few weeks ago I said Raf's gone...but i'ts ok Bruce or someone like him will be recruited

I never meant it....Toon will get exactly what they deserve with that move

Can't believe Newcastle haven't been bought by someone either...such potential with investment

i hope they get relegated

Bruce is a travesty of a managerial signing

suspect the likes of dyke wouldn't want the gig purely because of ashley but they certainly have a higher ceiling than burnely

I've always had a soft spot for the people of Newcastle in general. Got a mate who lives there so I know the city somewhat, some of the weirdest (in a good way), most eccentric people in England. Got it's share of fools, as all cities do, but for the most part it's a fun place - especially on a Friday night, some of the funniest drunks ever

One of those clubs that's always seemed bigger than it actually is, or has any right to be, because of the fans. They deserve SO much more than they've had down the years.
