Newcastle

As much as we moan about the day to day running of our club, I am very grateful we're not in as worse a position as the Toon.

Their hopes are instantly raised by talk of a oily Sheikh taking over and finally ridding them of the greasy walrus that is Mike Ashley, which in the end turns out to be hot air.

Then to add more salt to the wounds, they lose their best manager in years and then have to replace him with good old Brucey. I'm really surprised their fans haven't descended onto Ashley's house with pitchforks tbh.

Ashley does the same thing every summer. XYZ want to buy us but come late August there is no sale and he gets away with not having to buy players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, people actually think he'll sell up one of his biggest cash making businesses? Just like the Glazers won't give us up as well, yet some fans delude themselves into thinking they will.

To be fair to Ashley he really does look after his money. His credit rating must be through the roof.

This running joke is going to go on for a while isn’t it? A legacy left by RDD of all people.

You have to give credit where it's due though Babyen!

To have Rafa replaced by Steve Bruce is the ultimate kick in the nuts. Ashley is just out and out wumming the Newcastle fans now, he’s not even pretending anymore.

Add to that Brucies previous connections to the Macems and the barcode faithful will be in full revolt.

The thing with Newcastle is that their fans have an over estimated opinion of where they are in the grand scheme of things.

They haven't won anything of note in my life time other than the pre runner to the UEFA cup in 69.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know a couple of Newcastle fans and they're utterly realistic about their place in the footballing world.

As one of the 20 richest clubs in the world however, personally I don't think it's unreasonable to think they can compete at a higher level than avoiding EPL relegation. And I certainly think they have the right to be p'ed off that the money the club makes isn't put back into the team. I would be if I were a fan.

Can't see Ashley selling the cash cow though.

Aye, Bruce has to get off to a strong start and they’ve got Arsenal, Norwich, Spurs, Watford and Liverpool in their first five games, they could be bottom with one point after all that...

"the greasy walrus that is Mike Ashley" gets a 5-star rating. That's about as perfect of a description of the Toon owner -I feel empathy for their long-suffering support. Makes our dilemma with Ed seem mild in comparison. Those Geordies deserve better and so do we.

I'd forgotten just how much we all hated the fat Spanish waiter six years ago.

Apparently, so did you.

Heard that Newcastle might actually be talking to another manager and will ditch Brucey leaving him up sh*t creek as he's already resigned from SWFC.
