New away day ticket policy

I’m sure Paul will have some strong feelings on this, anyone else?

With my points I’m miles off getting away tickets when they first go on sale, but regardless can pretty much always find a ticket for any away if I want to go, bar Old Trafford where you’re struggling - obviously you don’t see the benefit of that on your own points though which shows the current system is flawed.

Not sure they’ve made it any better here though, nobody would want to move to a ballot, so the whole points system needs rethinking, and as someone in the article mentions removing the Platinum membership would be a good place to start.

As for randomly selecting fans to pick up the tickets where the game is being played... Total inconvenience. I went abroad (again not via buying tickets through my own account) when that was going on, and it was fecking farcical.

I don't go to many away games. Can't say I'm too worried about the changes to point allocation but I'd be well peed if I ended up having to queue to pick up tickets. Have to say allocation of away tickets is always a subject that generates a good punch up at the supporters club.

There probably isn’t a way to do it where everyone’s going to be happy. Changes in the article would be better for myself as if usually only try to do a few a season. The ones who go every game home and away will be pizzed though.

There's no easy answer , I used to do ok ish for away tickets but it became much harder when the price was capped to £30. I understand the reasons for that are purely economic.
Seems to me that the Club are damned if they try to do something and damned if they dont.
When I used to co run a supporters club and away tickets were in short supply, those that got them went to the bottom of the list next time it happened ,irrespective of points to try and be fair to all the members
I never took aways from the supporters club when they were scarce

I used to miss about 4 away games a season back in the 90's and still went to about 10 upto the takeover.

I was probably in the top 30% of loyalty point holders but I started to fall behind when they introduced the Platinum Cards.

I felt that the extra £50 wasn't worth it, still do, so I welcome any change that might get me to the odd away game.

Point whoring has been an issue for a few seasons, even more so when the aways we’re capped at £30 so something needed to be done but I don’t think this is the answer
It doesn’t affect me as I’ve got 27k points, all it’s done to me is ensure I’m never caught up
I could just go to the swamp & Anfield and no other games every season and be guaranteed a ticket

Am I misunderstanding it or is it overkill? if you abolish ticket points for away games, then no more point whoring. So why the feckology of having to pick up the tickets at the ground?

Just as an aside, I’m not a fan of all the tickets for home games going on general sale so soon nowadays either. Makes it a very expensive one off payment and I’m sure a few of those are being bought with the sole intention to sell on.

Priority should go to the fans with the most points. They are generally the fans who were around in the Maine Road days and earned their stripes.
