Where’s Gizmo now and what really happened?

Fears are now growing that Gizmo, the chihuahua that was snatched by a seagull, could have been swallowed WHOLE.

The bird swooped down at great speed, seemingly out of nowhere and took Gizmo in its beak two days ago.

The owner is praying that Gizmo is still unharmed and can be reunited with the family and their two other dogs at their home in Paignton, Devon.

All toy dogs (sic) should be exterminated, along with cats.

Get yourself proper dog.

The search for Gizmo, the chihuahua that was supposedly stolen from a woman's garden by a seagull, has taken a dark turn this weekend, after someone found a leg bone they believe could belong to the dog.

The saga began when Rebecca Hill, 24, said a seagull swooped down into her back garden in Paignton and made off with her beloved four-year-old pooch.

Apparently her boyfriend saw the gull fly off with the tiny dog in its beak, and since then there's been no sign of Gizmo, despite Becca's pleas to the public.

That is, potentially, until now.

On Friday (26 July) Natalie Williams, 29, found what she believes could be the remains of a dog's leg on a roof colonised by seagulls, which is often littered with dead animal parts.

The leg, which has a patch of fur similar to Gizmo's, has been given to a vet for a detailed examination.

Natalie, who works nearby in Totnes, Devon, told The Sun: "There has been seagulls nesting there for months.

"We had to get someone out to remove a chicken's head not long ago, as well as the body of a gull that had been cannibalised.

"On Friday, I found what can only be described as a mammal's leg on a fire escape at the back. I straight away thought of Gizmo as it looks like it belongs to a dog.

"I really hope I'm wrong."

According to The Sun, Rebecca was notified of the discovery but was too upset to comment.

Experts had previously warned that the gull could have eaten the dog.

DogLost coordinator Wayne May told the Sun: "It wouldn't be out of the seagull's remit to swallow a dog that size whole.

"If it's a black-backed seagull, it would be more than capable of swallowing a chihuahua.

"It doesn't look good. They are aggressive predators."

One of the country's leading specialists in the behaviour of urban seagulls, Peter Rock, also said it wouldn't be the first time a seagull has been found to have eaten a large animal.

Speaking to the paper, he said: "If they can get something down their throats then they will eat it.

"I've heard of pigeons and rabbits being eaten whole and they are capable of pulling them apart.

"Given the chance they will eat anything and this poor dog sounds about the size of a rabbit, but I do hope she gets him back."

Great News.

One less rodent in the world. Chihuahuas are rats, not dogs and should be exterminated, along with their snotty owners.

Hunt continues for chihuahua 'snatched by seagull' after vets examine leg bone

A seagull is said to have snatched Gizmo the dog from a garden in Paignton, Devon, leaving his owner Rebecca Hill heartbroken

A leg bone that was found in the hunt for a missing chihuahua nabbed by a seagull actually belongs to a rabbit, experts claim.

Gizmo the dog has been missing for more than a week after a crafty seagull plucked him out of his owner's garden in Paignton, Devon.

Fears were raised about the fate of the pooch after a bone was discovered in the area, however vets have now confirmed that it is not Gizmo's leg.

Owner Rebecca Hill, 24, was relieved to hear that her chihuahua may still be out there, although she is still heartbroken over his disappearance.

The Sun first published a picture of the leg bone after dog walker Natalie Williams found the remains and contacted the newspaper.

Vet Hayley Pfeffer told The Sun : "I can confirm it’s not a dog’s foot and more than likely that of a rabbit."

Her colleague Ad Viljoen added: "This is not a canine foot. The claws are that of a rabbit and there are hairs between the toes where a dog would have pads.”

The leg was found in Totnes, six miles from Miss Hill's property, on a roof which seagulls have been using as their home "for months".

Ms Williams said she saw the 'mammal's leg' by a fire escape and immediately though it belonged to Gizmo, who was snatched on July 21.

Miss Hill was initially too shocked to comment on the discovery, according to reports.

She had previously a psychic's vision that Gizmo was alive and well 'in a garden with a water feature'.

How many more twists can this story have? I still believe that Gizmo can make it home safe and well.

The gulls are particularly vicious near where I live in Llandudno. The town's Facebook page is full of people moaning about them. I really enjoy walking along the prom and seeing people get chips, ice cream etc pinched out of their hands and act all upset just minutes after feeding the gulls themselves.

Long live the gull!

Idiocy to feed one before you've finished your own meal. The people deserve it.

It's very funny to see. There's plenty of signs telling you not to but people still do it!

We have some nesting on our roof but they leave us alone and we leave them alone. They're great as an alarm when people walk up the drive! Better than the dog who just sits there relaxing with not a care in the world!

We've got house martins nesting on the brickwork just under the eaves at the front of our house, don't act as an alarm or anything useful, just constant annoying high pitched bird noises now there's chicks in there. Plus they shiiiiyte all over the burglar alarm and window sill of the dining room

How much are air rifles now days?

He does Steve. But you don't know where the caravan is. It could be Rotterdam or anywhere.
