Not a disaster last night but should have been a lot more. I did say yesterday my neggy gut feeling was 2-0 Gers. But lets be honest it was 2-0 going on 7 or 8.
I just watched the highlights back and although their keeper wasn't making top class saves - he was making a hell of a lot of them
But we only have ourselves to blame for not scoring more and it keeps the players on their toes for the next leg.
And as much as I have been non plussed to this point about Kent coming back I have to admit, looking at our how options on the left are shaping up I would love him back now.
Murphy looks miles off first team fitness - I would send him on loan to someone like Thistle for the first 3 months of the season to get him match fit and get his confidence up.
Jones on a free brings pace and a bit of drive but the reality is he isn't very good. He has done nothing to convince me he shouldn't be anything more than an emergency back up.
And we saw last week Hastie is a prospect who isn't ready for the first team. Another one that needs a loan.
On the positive side - Edmunson looks a good find. Not the tallest whch is what will probably stop him reaching the very top. But a strong, pacy, composed defender who is very comfortable pinging the ball about from the back.
Ojo is a key addition but at times he will frustrate the life out of the fans this season. He is a bit like the opposite of Kent. He doesn't have the fancy skill or the feather-like first touch. But he is strong, powerful and direct and in terms of end product we will get a lot out of him.
Aribo - looks like the perfect signing for our midfield. Works his socks off to win the ball back, gets up to the other end of the park and wants to be in and around their box unlike Jack who gets a nosebleed in the final third. Aribo he has great feet and has shown he can finish with two goals in two competitive starts already.
Nobody wants to get too carried away with the lad but he has started well looks terrific piece of business for £300k.
I do think we have improved but still fear we might be one Ryan Kent short of a semi serious title challenge.

anyone know why Jacks goal was chopped off towards the end. I was sitting pretty much in line with it and Jack was about 3/4 yards onside? Defoe when he received the ball was also onside with a defender to his back?

Deffo was in a marginally offside position when Jack played the ball to him but he was onside when he received it.
It was one of those ones where it was (just) an offside and we didn’t actually gain any real advantage from him being offside in the first place.
Ojos in the first half was very tight as well. Again he didn’t need to be offside either. He got to the rebound miles before everyone else.

its all very good being able to see if there is contact but we should all be aware if refs we get can hear fouls!

It was given as offside but we didn't get a replay, i thought it was on from the first pictures

It was the correct decision.
Against Defoe not Jack.
