Young Talent

Good to see Celtic are continuing our practice of trying to pinch young talent from across the globe, this week we have signed Leo Fuhr Hjelde from Rosenberg and Tobi Oluwayemi from Tottenham, Okoflex from Arsenal last season looks a talent too.

I think we are getting a good reputation as a team who will nurture and give high potential youngsters a route to the first team.

Obviously there's no guarantee any of these guys will make it, but for a team playing in our environment this is our best chance of remaining relevant and keeping ourselves financially sound, futures bright.

Show, Ajax have hundreds of soccer academies all over Africa, out of the tens of thousands of young players thaf go through these places, Ajax takes the best ten or twenty every season and adds them to their youth setup in Holland.

I doubt any other team in the world has such a setup.

Maybe so. Still say our record is abysmal. You've cited Tierney and Forrest, and I'd add McGregor but apart from that how many have come from our youth set into first team regulars.

We should be looking for 2 a year pushing hard at the door.

Strange timing, I'd say we're actually bringing our youth players though better now than we have in the last 20-30 years.

Tierney
McGregor
Forrest
Johnston
Ajer (bought at 16 so I'd say it counts)
Henderson
Karamoko

All first team players or in Dembele's case looking a certainty over the next couple of years.

I mean I firmly believe in Forrest, McGregor & Tierney we've got £60m worth of talent via our academy, Ajer and Johnston are well on their way to being worth a lot of money on their current trajectory too.

It's nice to now be reaping the benefits of our long term planning, we're in a great position to remain the dominant force for the foreseeable future.
