Afternoon folks.

I'll be watching this in the office this evening. 18 30 KO not ideal.

Stade Jos Haupert apparently has a capacity of 4.830.

I have a few mates over but unsure how many travelled.

Hoping for another good performance. Gerrard made it clear we were going there to win so hopefully the team take that on board. For the Co-Ef as well as our need to impress.

I'd happily take a 0-1 but to be honest I'm really hoping we completely control this game and we get to see some decent football.

Desperate to avoid injuries at this stage.

Once in the group stages its 2 for a win and 1 for a draw.

I was sure in qualifiers its something like 0.5 for win abd 0.25 for draw but that might be something I read that was made up

Well done Berrz, that'll help the coefficient. Would a W have done a wee bit more good?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep, 1.25 points for a draw, 2.5 for a win.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't believe that is true?

But I'm struggling to explain why or say how many points are gained

Seriously, If Celtic reach the CL group stage they will have 'won' 4 coeff points no matter how they did it.

Teams reaching the EL group stage get 3 points.

All CL teams that lose during qualifying now drop into Europa qualifying so the points you get are determined by either the 3 for qualifying or the round that you drop out:

round 4 - 2.5

round 3 - 2

round 2 - 1.5

round 1 - 1

round P - 0.5

So, getting through the round matters. How you do it doesn't.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I meant to type 0.125 for a draw 0.250 for a win.

Yeah, points are awarded for how far a team gets so when , but individual result also accrue points so how you do it does matter, in all qualifying rounds for both euro competitions 0.500 points are available.

Celtic won both legs in both games so have accrued 1.000 point.

Rangers have had 3 wins and a draw so they have contributed 0.875

Aberdeen have also had 3 wins and a draw so it's 0.875 for them too.

Killie only contributed 0.250 with their solitary win.(+0.250 extra for their finishing position)

Below is the points that are awarded when a team is eliminated, so if all 3 remaining teams get knocked out without getting another win Scotland's total coefficient for this year will be 7.00 which is already higher than the last 5 years.

This years total is added to the last 4 years to get the final coefficient score, we started this season 5 places and 5 points behind Denmark who are in 15th place, 15th is the magic number as it gives Scotland 2 teams in the Champions league again.

UEFA Champions League points system

First qualifying round elimination – 0.5 points

Second qualifying round elimination – 1 point

Group stage bonus participation – 4 points

Group stage win – 2 points

Group stage draw – 1 point

Round of 16 bonus participation – 4 points

UEFA Europa League points system

First qualifying round elimination – 0.25 points

Second qualifying round elimination – 0.5 points

Third qualifying round elimination – 1 point

Play-off elimination – 1.5 points

Group stage win – 2 points

Group stage draw – 1 point

All 3 Scottish teams have a decent chance to get to the respective play off round and that would be terrific.

Am I right in saying that these points are the ones that go to the nation then you divide the points say rangers have gained by 4 (because 4 teams were involved in Europe) and that is the figure that would go to the clubs coef?

SJB, I still think you are wrong!

Check the bold Bert Kassies listing of how many points clubs have won this season. It matches what I have said. https://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method5/tcoef2020.html

It's showing 2.5, which is what Celtic currently have the way I'm working it out too.

1 point for 4 wins and 1.5 for getting to the Europa League playoff which is the minimum we can now, but yeah I'm really confused to be honest.
