Aside from last season his record is great.

It doesn't matter since we're not going to get him, but he would have been the perfect Hazard replacement.

Tierney or Chilwell would’ve been the players we would’ve looked at to replace Alonso.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Thing is we've had two managers who really rated him. Much as we can all agree improvement's needed there and don't believe the club would've thought the same way.

Window most likely would've been Kovacic, Pepe, maybe another 3rd choice keeper and a loan army recruit or two. The big move would've once again been the manager, doubt Lampard would've been the guy had the ban not been in effect.

I think we would’ve brought Ndoumble instead of Kovacic.

Barella perhaps simply because we tried in January, but I reckon Kovacic would've been the guy. I suspect it's why Hazard's fee was very generous to say the least, deal for Kovacic was already done.

Sarri made Emerson 1st choice LB towards the end of the season. Looked like Alonso wanted out. He's not happy here, getting booed at every ground probably playing a part as well. A lot of interest from Spain. I think he would've left if it wasn't for the transfer ban.

I'm not sure we would've signed Kovacic if he ban wasn't in place. Look how long we waited to finalise the deal. Plus a lot of people don't/didn't rate him.

Ndoumble would've been the perfect player. Does everything that Kovacic does but has a better final pass and would've brought some physicality to our lightweight midfield.

Btw I just put down some names that I think would improve our team. Quality players will be available again next season. Just plssed that we lose our best player and are unable to strengthen our squad.

If we were going to go really big on a Hazard replacement I would have wanted us to look at Felix or Sancho. Young exciting players with huge huge potential.

It would've been more gulling if it was 10 years ago and the prospect of us getting a Neymar, Bale or Dybala was actually realistic. In that respect this summer is unique, uncommon for so many established megastars to be available at the same time.

Not being able to reinvest the Hazard money is annoying, but at least it gives us a full year to properly put a plan together next summer based on this season. Would be a very welcome surprise if between them Pulisic & CHO prove to be enough so there's no need to directly replace him.

It's a no right answer debate. Plenty of examples through history where each approach has succeed and failed both moderately and spectacularly.

Although no-one would choose to have a transfer ban, in a funny way it take the pressure off the club to make that decision on the fly. By this time next summer the answer will be much clearer as to which approach will benefit us the most.
