Split striker system?

Just me or does the split striker system suit our attackers down to a tee? For those that aren't familiar with the system, it's basiclaly a 433/4231 hybrid where the central attacker plays as a false 9 and the two wide attackers play as wide/inside forwards.

We went with this system in most of our big games last season during Ole's winning streak and it worked a treat. Particularly, Martial and Rashford benefit as both have a tendency to drift out wide anyway and can rely on each other to share the goal-scoring burden.

---------Martial----------Dybala-----------Rashford----------
-------(Sanchez)----(Lingard/Mata)----(Greenwood/James)

--------------------Pogba--------Fernandes---------------------
--------------------(Fred)----------(Perreira)
------------------------------McT------------------------------------
-----------------------------(Matic)

Then again, I would only go for this formation if we sign Dybala as Lingard/Mata are simply not good enough for the false 9 role. I also don't think we will sign Bruno Fernandes so tbh, it doesn't matter how we set up our attackers as our midfield is going to let us down anyway.

A lit of media outlets are back tracking ok the Dybala move, I'm sure sure that one will happen

I've been thinking the same. I think we will line up like this more often as we have more natural strikers than wingers who can cross a ball anyway. Our players are more suited to something like this although I'm not sure where this leaves James

Simple, he'll be on the bench incase we need to change to a 433 during games.

Only issue I have with the split system is who defends where. Who tracks the opposing full backs? The two strikers or the false 9 and one of our CMs?

Also, I question the attacking output of our full backs.

Awb I think offers enough in attack. More than Luke shaw who really needs to work in his distribution
