Jozo Simunovic has agreed personal terms with Lille as he closes in on a permanent exit from Celtic.
The defender, 24, has accepted the offer of a long-term contract from the newly-rich French club that will see his current salary of around £10,000-a-week double.
A Celtic source said the club have not yet agreed a fee for Simunovic with Lille but negotiations over the transfer are ongoing and likely to be finalised.
The French window remains open until 31 August, but Celtic have only until next Thursday to sign a replacement for the Croatian centre-back if a deal is agreed.
Lille coach Christophe Galtier has already confirmed his interest in Simunovic and the Ligue 1 big hitters have money in the bank after the £72million sale of Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal.
The former Dinamo Zagreb defender has entered the final two years of his contract at Celtic and is ready to move after four years at the club.
He has made 114 appearances Celtic in four years and was set to be regular starter this season after playing the full 90 minutes of each of their four Champions League qualifier games.
It would be crazy to sell Jozo at this crucial time, just give him £25k p/w to stay.

If the offer is good and we can get a replacement, I'd let Jozo go, he follows a consistent pattern of playing well for a couple of months only to cost us in big games.
Don't get me wrong, I think there's a really good defender in there if he could cut out the rush of blood that turns him into a maniac on occasion.
But he's clearly our 3rd choice cb, so if the price is right and we can get a good replacement I won't be too fussed.

I would sell Jozo but only if we have a replacement lined up. We have some challenging CL qualifiers to negotiate first 👍

Because he's been linked with a move away almost every window since he arrived which tells me he kinda wants away those rumours usually come from the players agent, and he's not that great, I think if the fee is high enough we'd be able to get better for the money.
