Great start to the league this weekend with talking points all over the shop.
Fantastic victory for Celtic who destroyed a hapless St Johnstone team. Celtics early season performances have been good by all accounts and they have hit the ground running. It will hardly be a surprise to anyone that they are the team for others to try and to keep pace with.
Hopefully the celtic players become as complacent as some of their fans who think the league is already in the bag. I agree completely that the title is Celtics to lose but it aint over until Susan Boyle puts on a show and all that.
I still think points in the OF games will be relatively evenly shared so it will be who can be most consistent against the rest which will decide the destination of the title. I am convinced that Gers have added a bit of quality in Ojo and Aribo (neither of whom were great yesterday though) and a bit of depth with the other signings. There is still something missing in there though IMO.
Gers had a hard fought win over Killie in a game that lacked any real quality. Killie have a new surface down and frankly it looks worse to play on than the last one. I think I counted five Rangers players falling over in the first ten minutes. The remarking of Killies pitch just brings another level of embarrassment to our game. It looks like some sheidty amateur park that has been marked out for both hockey and football.
Either way Gers managed something they never did last season - which was to beat Killie. So whilst they are going to need to play a whole lot better as the season goes on they should be applauded for showing the fight to get the win.
The Aberdeen vs Hearts match sounds 'eventful' and in the end a great win for the Dons. Cosgrove is on fire right now and he probably needs to be taken seriously as a footballer now despite the fact he doesn't look like one.
Hibs got a narrow win and they will prove to be well organised and hard to beat under Heckingbottom this season. Might lack a bit of firepower but they will prove a test to Rangers next weekend.
Hamilton got pumped by Ross County. Hopefully this is the season the Accies go down and they can be replaced by someone with a grass park.
Only 37 more games to go.....hopefully it remains competitive till the end

Painful for St Johnstone and it should be setting off alarm bells. Could be a very difficult season for them.
The transformation in Christie is incredible though. Great strikes.

Jim Duffy tipped St Johnstone for relegation and I just watched the highlights from Saturday and can see why.
Celtic were terrific but St Johnstone were very poor. The one their keeper let through him and the one the CB missed the header by a mile were pretty comical.
The way they sat off celtic was alarming for them.
But that didn't affect the outcome of the match celtic were clinical and would have won comfortably either way. Some brilliant strikes in there.

It was a right statement of intent, tell you something else, woe betide teams who stand of Christie around the 18 yard box, he only needs a half yard to either score or cause the keeper to make a save.
BBC Highlights are only 5 mins, they missed out loads especially Eddy's mazy and one move that if it ended in a goal could have been GOTS first day

This video has some extra highlights.

Poor performance but a decent result considering we hadn't won away in the league there for 8 years.

I think we lacked players willing to take risks yesterday. We looked strangely unadventurous in the final third.
But as 'poor' a performance as it was we dominated the ball and had 10 attempts on target to Killies 3.
It wasn't pretty but 3 points on opening day on a terrible park will do

Big Sam, 30 goals this season easily if he stays fit

Good win, indifferent performance although i thought we deserved it on balance.Second half we/the manager should(I think)have changed it earlier but it's good to see fight until the end and it's still a great way to win

Good point Zach, my biggest frustration was waiting for SG to bring on subs to change the game and inject urgency into our play. Millie had clearly started the second half in a more attacking manner and had missed a sitter after only 5 or 10 mins of the 2nd half.
Hopefully Gerrard improves on that in the rest of the league games .
