People lately like to make out VVD wasn't particularly great before he came to Liverpool, therefore other defenders might have a similar impact at their new clubs

Maguire may not have the impact vvd had however as a collective we can get a hell of a lot better. He may well be the leader like vvd that we need. Especially with the young talented defenders around him. Plus you pay English tax on top of that. VVD is an excellent cb however there is no reason why Maguire can’t reach high levels either. I’d say they are both on the same levels when bought. Vvd was hardly pulling up trees at Southampton was he

Sure everyone knew ,and he was widely spoken of as
probably the best defender in the world with balon dor written all over him

So say liverpool fans

VVD was excellent at Southampton up until he was almost sold to Liverpool and then had to sit around and wait for another window.

More importantly though, why don’t you play Benkovic? He’s better than half the potential replacements you’re talking about.
