Pull Your Finger Out Levy / Tottenham

Why do Spurs have to be like this? we do so much good work, and then when all we need is that last little bit of quality to push us over the line, we never commit to it.

As a massive Levy backer i have to say i am disappointed with the current situation.

Off the back of the new stadium, the CL run massively raising our global profile, qualification for next seasons CL (albeit luckily), and then breaking our transfer record by 50% with a statement and key signing, we had a real opportunity this summer to build a squad to seriously test the top 2....

instead we look to have totally facked up the RB situation (am blaming Poch for this one), and are still lacking in key areas, especially with the uncertain long term futures of Rose (due to wanting to leave) Toby A / Eriksen / Verts due to contract length.

It seems like the Eriksen situation is the key to everything, which is annoying, but we should remind ourselves that we had relegation form for a 3rd of the season last year, and only scraped in because arsenal and man u were a joke. This year it will be a real scrap if we do not add more quality. we lost only 4 fewer league games than relegation battling Southampton last year.... alarm bells ringing.

In my opinion the following is required as an absolute minimum

1. A proper RB, not having this nonsense about KWP and Foyth battling it out, and Aurier cannot be trusted unless he improves massively.
2. An AM, or 2 if Eriksen goes. This is necessary due to Alli being injury prone, and also contributing gradually fewer goals and assists every season, for one reason or another.

Liverpool finished 4th and lost the CL final.... went out and bought key players in key areas and then won the CL and finished a narrow 2nd.

We finished 4th and lost the CL final...... the blueprint is there to follow... what will we do about it?

Pull your finger out Levy and get these deals across the line.

record revenues, ridiculous shirt deal and nike sponsor.

new stadium which will generate a shat ton in ticket sales etc.

still selling players by the looks of it so hardly looking at a ridiculous net spend.

We don't even have the stadium naming rights in place either which will generate a shhhit load

I think its a bit of a coup that we got NDombele. The new stadium, UCL final, training ground all help make us an attractive prospect and looks like we'll pay wages realtive to our top 4 status.

For NDombele Lyon were seeking 70-80m and in the end we agreed 60m Euros. We did well, the player wanted to go and Lyon in the end relented.

I cannot see Betis or Lisbon rejecting the reported 60m euros we;re offering for either their players. For such clubs that is a huge sum of money and they are simply trying to milk the EPL team, especially where there is also reported interest from United. They'll play hard ball until the last minute, but i reckon a deal will be done. Its a case of who blinks first, but us blinking can cost us 10m...the sort of difference that pays Harry Kanes wages
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its that sort of money we just wasted on Jack Clarke
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wasted?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would rather have lobbed that 10mln on what we were offering Betis to have got the GLC deal done 10 days ago. Jack Clarke was hardly a priority this summer !! Same could be said of Sessegnon if Rose isn't leaving and Davies just signed a new deal. Would have preferred it if Levy could have stopped playing hardball and done more (like he did with NDombele) to get the LoCelso deal done, knowing that Eriksen could still leave after Thursday. Getting an AM & a RB are priorities and should have been done before now. If you want to see if you can low ball someone last minute for a deal then thats fine but it really shouldn't be the case with positions where we need quality players who could & should be regular starters
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can agree that we should have proceeded on the basis that we know Eriksen is going, but that still doesnt stop us from seeking reasonable value in the players we are after.

I'd guess virtually no one on here had heard of Lo Celso before we were linked with him and now these same knowledgeable folk are saying "just pay 70m for him". There is a certain lack of realism in the expectations of some.

He could be the next Lamela - underwhelming for the value paid. Fernandes has very impressive stats but is in a 2nd tier league, so a risk coming to the EPL and especially for 70m. United spent £80m on Maguire but they know exactly what they will get from him in this league.

Flip side of this that if Clark proves himself to be a real talent, we'd all be sat here slagging Levy & our scouting system if we hadnt bought him....something that happens a lot about other missed targets

I'm not saying we shouldn't go after young talent but there was no sense of urgency re Clarke. Poch has made it clear we wants LoCelso & reports are that we are 10-15Mln quid apart in valuation ((sounds like 60mln will do it).... I'd have rather left Clarke until deadline day or Jan and get our main targets in early

For me to be pleased with the window...

Outs - Eriksen, Trippier, Llorente, Janssen, Wanyama
Ins - Lo Celso, Atal*, Zaha*, Sessegnon

*Ideally though unlikely. Choose whatever alternative you want - Ziyech, Sidibe, etc.

Don’t say I didn’t tell you chronic took you 10 years to finally come round. Not sure why you feel the need to blame Pochettino for the Right back/Trips situation. He’s not the one sanctioning the deals mate, it’s your great bald friend doing that.

i haven't come round... Levy overall is an outstanding chairman that has dragged the club out of mediocrity and to the top table through organic growth. that is so difficult in the modern era.

however this particular window, he is trying my patience.

and with regard to the RB situation... are you telling me that Levy sold trippier against Poch's wishes and blessing as he was going to be the number one right back? that is quite far fetched. I think its obvious that Poch wants to use Foyth there.
