Has someone drugged Levy

I know, I know... He cant win, especially now he's out there going after big players !!!! Either way, if reports are true that the stadium/ new sponsorship deals are are generating crazy money Vs the manageable debt repayments of 25mln for the next few years then these are defo exciting times !!! While I suspect there are defo smoke screens out there some of these signings do throw up some possibly very interesting line ups for next season......& Might explain why we dont seem in a rush to replace Trips

In addition we would have Options to switch to a back 4 using Foyth as RB, Dele Backing Up Coutinho. Sonny & Moura off the bench or playing wide in a 4-2-3-1 and/ Or Dier instead of winks for the games where we might need to be more defensive

Anyway you cut it. That 11 with the likes of Moura, Sonny, Lamela, Dier, Davies, Foyth, Dele, Parrot, Gazza & KWP on the bench aint that far behind City & Liverpool. In addition there might still be the chance Sessegnon comes in as the eventual successor to Rose.

Of course I might wake up in a minute and the reality will be that its just GLC and Sessegnon

Either way.... Nice to see us showing some ambition and hopefully proving that the stadium aggro/ transfer "ban" was worth it

Manchester United have passed on the opportunity to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham to prioritise keeping Paul Pogba.

The MEN understands United believe Eriksen, 27, would rather move to Spain after Real Madrid had a nine-figure bid rejected for him last year and are unprepared to accept Tottenham's offer of bidding for him.

United sources suggested Madrid were lobbying Spurs to entertain a bid from United for Eriksen, despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's admiration, to plunge Pogba's future into more uncertainty.

Real coach Zinedine Zidane wants to sign Pogba rather than Eriksen, whom Madrid unsuccessfully bid for last year, and the Bernabeu club had a risible £27.4m plus James Rodriguez offer for Pogba rejected by United last week.

Spurs are desperate to avoid losing Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld, 30, on free transfers next summer since both have entered the last year of their contracts.

The MEN understands Tottenham sources were 'gutted' United did not trigger Alderweireld's £25million release clause before it expired on July 25, having explored the possibility of signing the Belgian last year.

I've always been supportive of Levy, it's not easy running a business let alone one with so many individual and vocal 'shareholders' commonly know as supporters. That said, if he doesn't do more business before COP tomorrow I will fall into the Harry Hotspur camp of entrenched Levy haters.

Christian Eriksen is still holding out for a move to Real Madrid, and is willing to wait a year, ending Manchester United’s chances of signing the playmaker.

With just one year left on the 27-year-old’s contract, Tottenham Hotspur would prefer to sell now, and the situation meant the Dane was at least willing to consider any offer from Old Trafford.

United were given little encouragement in the last few hours, though, and those close to the player insist any move at this point would be made for career and lifestyle reasons.

The 27-year-old is said to just want a change from England, with Spain - and specifically Real Madrid - his primary choice.

They have cooled their own interest in the Dane after an expensive summer, but he is conscious that his signing could be much more attractive on a free next summer and is not panicked.

Spurs have had a new offer on the table for the 27-year-old, but would now prefer to move him on and rebuild - primarily through the signing of Sporting's Bruno Fernandes or Juventus' Paulo Dybala.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino also has reservations about keeping players who enter the last year of their contract.
------
Looks like he'll run down is contract to get a move to Spain. Without selling him, will Levy buy either Fernandes or Dybala?

Spurs must be rolling in cash.
Toby will cost them an extra 20 mill plus this season, before leaving on a free next summer, and potentially 80 mill lost if Eriksen doesn't move on in this window.
100 mill lost on potentially income from player sales.
Fair play.

This is how Arsenal almost bankrupted themselves. Letting players leave for nothing.

If Spurs want to roll with the big guns this is the risk they need to take. We cannot always sell to teams we competing with.

If we sell them and miss out on champions league revenue - we will lose more money than any figure those two are worth. Plus what’s to say they won’t renew their contracts if they do stay.

The revenue generated by the stadium is insane, add that to the CL money, TV money & new sponsorship deals announced a couple of weeks ago and Spurs are doing very well. There are also a few whispers that the stadium rights are soon to be announced (10 year deal, unnamed company at this point but a Big slice of that will be upfront. Put that into context with a zero net spend for 2 years/ low wage bill vs peers and the fact the stadium repayments are very manageable and all of sudden Levy is spending like my Mrs !!!

You know Levy wouldn't spend it if he didnt have it. He also has to put a good product in that stadium and keep Poch sweet while he's at it

I'd be very surprised if either signed any kind of contract.
Why would they.

You would have to reach the champions league final again, and probably win it, to generate 100 million in income from that competition.
