Lukaku to be fined for going AWOL

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will be fined by the club for missing training without permission.

Belgium international Lukaku, 26, has trained at his former team Anderlecht for the past two days, although Monday was a day off for United players.

Serie A sides Inter Milan and Juventus remain keen on the forward, who did not play in the Premier League club's pre-season matches because of injury.

In July, United rejected a £54m bid from Inter for Lukaku.

The Italian giants' manager Antonio Conte has previously confirmed the striker remains his number one target, saying: "I consider him a player who could improve our team."

Lukaku joined the Red Devils from Everton for an initial £75m in July 2017 and scored 12 league goals last season.

I thought that maybe Ole had told him to stay away, but it looks like he should have reported back for training.

We really need to get him our of the door. Hopefully Juve or Inter come back with a deal close to what we paid for him and we can get rid. Ideally before tomorrow so that we can bring someone else in (if that is what Ole wants).

Now I know we won't be getting any replacement, or buying a top midfielder, the Lukaku saga doesn't really bother me.

Ole wouldn't have started him anyway.

Yaaaay another £65m for the Glazers/Woodward bonus

Still half expecting us to go after Ben Yedder if Lukaku goes.

His goal record suggests he isn’t as bad as you say

........................

His goal record doesn't mean he is a good footballer, just good at putting the ball in the net.

And that isn't getting better, it is getting worse.

That’s the whole point of football - to score goals

The guy has never played for a United side that played to his strengths like he gets in the Belgium side where he does very well

I’d imagine he’ll get much better service in Italy and we’ll see the best of him. And sadly we’ll be left with a real lack of goal options unless we sign a replacement

He isn't doing that though is he? An when he isn't scoring he is such a poor footballer he is of no use.

imagine how many goals lukaku would have scored in a team with giggs and beckham where the ball was constantly being crossed into the box

No idea what you thought you were watching.

in a way he is almost a luxury player.

...........

He is a striker who has limitations to his game. It is why he will never be a great striker

No doubt Keane would skin him alive for missing 30 sitters a season then.
