Accrding to Angus Kinnear, Leeds turned down 35 million pounds worth of bids for some of our players on deadline day. Its been said that bids were in for Phillips, Ayling (West Brom) , Hernandez and Forshaw
Well done Leeds for holding on to them, fine club ownership keeping our star players ................
............ or did we just run of loan slots so couldn't replace anyone else?
Turned down 35 million

With regards to relegation clauses.
I'm of the opinion it should be in the PL rules that ALL players sign a clause that states if the club is relegated the player receives a maximum of £20k a week.
Also all clubs should be made to have a contingency fund that should they get relegated would cover the "x" amount of £20k's per week for a year or so.
That completely negates the need for the huge parachute payments.
The extra money could then be split from League 2 upwards.

Wouldn’t work aza
For two reasons
1 teams who would be likely to be relegated or in a battle wouldn’t be able to attract players
2 when you went down, most of the side would want to leave. It would be carnage.
There is no easy solution

It's not the fact they get parachute payments, it's the amount to me. That's what creates such an in-balance when a club comes down.
Maybe a £10m max payment (notional figure, insert whatever suits)? Clubs have to start learning to live within means and have continuity plans, not just get bailed out.

It’s the water tight contracts players have.
The drop in revenue is too big.

I think we have to remember where AR started, two years ago, picking up what was left of our great club after a series of poor owners had done their worst.
It's difficult for fans to understand AR's position because his communications have been so poor and because he sends out mixed signals. He allowed Orta to sign a load of dross which have really taxed the resources of the club during the course of his tenure; but hasn't gone the extra mile at critical campaign points, like last January. The squad ran out of steam a month before the end of the season; that might not have happened had it been refreshed in January. Mixed signals.
Now the rumour is that he is prepping for sale at the end of this, his third year. If we're promoted, he'll carry on but if not, we'll be up for sale. New owners will likely start from scratch if Bielsa goes too, so it doesn't matter if the squad is full of loanees - as long as they are year-long loanees, I guess - because everything will change next summer anyway.
I'm only guessing, like everyone else, what is in AR's mind - but it's only natural to read the recent window in this way. In any case, Ar is probably horrified to discover how agents work and how the market is now obviously and ridiculously ballooning. Is Ollie McBurney worth 20 million, ffs? He won't shell out such ridiculous sums of money if he's got any sense at all. We are still only a Championship-level club, financially.

That’s pretty much my assessment too. My biggest concern at the time with the appointment of Orta was that Radz, with no football knowledge, would just hand the cheque book to him. Orta spunked it all unchecked on recreating a Seville model, which is ok IF you have the resources, but cheapskated on coaches and first team. We’ve paid for that in terms of resources since and have now torn it up. Obviously 11 sports debacle hamstrings Radz too.

Not sure that’s still totally the case, most contracts have relegation clauses in them, making parachute payments a bit of a cop out. Likely that the reduced fees for relegation aren’t reduced as much as they should be though.

Apparently the Maguire price was so high because of something called the "English premium" - because Maguire is English, his price is hiked. 80 million, ffs!
Same thing happening throughout the leagues? Maybe only in the Championship, which also draws a lot of overseas players.
So, just at the point AR has to splash the cash, the commodity price goes through the roof, particularly for homegrown players like McBurney. The agents are killing this business, I'd say.

Anyone see that financial expert talking about football?
It was linked on waccoe carajo twitter feed yesterday.
I don't have the link or the bloke's name. But, basically,
his point was, things are really dire in English football outside of the top 6.
He said, even with Prem money, the bottom 14 clubs can't make ends meet. They are losing money by the week on a large scale. He also said, in a very nice way, that most fans are clueless to the inner workings of football finance. FFP is beyond them/us.
When asked about the Championship clubs, he said that loans are a factor now of trying to keep afloat and any chance at success. That clubs run very differently now.
He mentioned most clubs in the Championship lose 2 mill a week. I guess that refers back to FFP and the gamble of operating costs.
Upshot from him was, fans have no idea about what actually is going on financially. Or how close to disaster all clubs are outside the top 6. And he backed up a point Jonty has said for years, the gap between the top 6 and the rest, gets wider by the season. Almost at a point the gap can't be bridged.
I drank a beer after I listened. It is potentially dire.

My point is obvious and clear
Stoopo said bear we can hope for, his a business man.
I’ve then pointed to numerous clubs who have loads of money Chucked at them.
So we can hope for better than rad
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you read what I wrote you will see that I said we have no mega rich Leeds fans willing to throw their money at the club. Those days have long gone.
Yes the best we can hope for is a businessman/woman who knows what they are doing - if they happen to be mega rich and are willing to throw money at us even better.
Name any of the clubs you mentioned who have real fans in charge. All as far as I can tell are just mega rich people/companies/countries/consortiums.
If Radz gets us promoted we might find one ourselves but even then we would have people moaning that we’ve taken corporate cash and sold our soul.

We need to realise that there are no mega rich Leeds fans out there who are going to plough their hard earned cash into their dream of PL football with LUFC. The best we can hope for is a business person who understands how football works.

What utter rubbish
Leicester
Wolves
Villa
Chelsea
Man City
Etc etc
---------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure what your point is, King Power founder, Fosun, NSWE, Abramovich and Sheikh Mansoor had no interest in Leicester, Wolves, Villa, Chelsea and City respectively. They may not all be businessmen but were looking for investments and could have chosen practically any club. These teams lucked out.
Your point seems to prove what Stoopo wrote.
Very few mega rich fans out there investing in their boyhood teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly what I meant! I’m glad someone can understand what I wrote
