It can't be a multi-year contract - 2 years at the most - Verts is past 30 now.
So... what's Levy haggling over?

Vertonghen is Mr Tottenham. Everything that is good about the club, this man epitomises it. He MUST be given the contract he wants.

I am hoping that because he didn't play today he is fresh for the City game. We need him for that game and we need Lo Celso.

What an equaliser today from Ndombele! BOOM! right time too.

I agree. If he isn't going to sign a contract I'd rather keep him and lose him on a free. We'd stand to possibly lose £60m but for the sake of having that strength in depth for this season, it's worth it. It's like spending £60m on a 1 year loan that's all, and we may even possibly get to sign him up after.

I am still waiting to hear what injury Verts had today that kept him out of the team. Can somebody enlighten me please.

Sanchez had little to do all afternoon Ted, and what he did, he did OK.But I like Verts, and cannot fathom why he was left out.

Well, from what I saw, Sanchez was out of position for their goal - the ball went over his head and he couldn't turn or run back fast enough.
Vertonghen's quality is that he is not caught out like that.

Sanchez wasn't at fault. Sissoko lost his man and didn't track back. Danny Rose was slow to recover.

I dont think it was sanchez' fault necessarily but I think he could have done better

He could have dropped back to cover sooner But was concentrating on his wrestling match with wesley, needed to react quicker when the ball went over his head

We should be giving Vertonghen whatever he wants, he has earned that over the years of top level service

The age thing and contract complications are a joke. The guy came out and said he'd sign a new deal. You need experienced classy players in their 30s especially at the back on top of the younger players at the club.

Was worrying what poch said about the big squad he was happy with and has lots to choose from even in defence where was have 3 stand out players who are the agey ones who have to play every game when fit.
