Real Madrid closer to £75m transfer

Reports coming in that according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, who claim Eriksen seems to have struck personal terms with Madrid over a move as Spurs make him available for what looks an attractive price at £75m.

No confirmations yet, but this could be a major blow I feel if it were true.

Though the club had plenty of warning about this possibility and should have an alternative in place.

I don't feel like the club has made its alternative arrangements. I am not convinced Lamela is the playmaker we need.

I am also not sure whether Lo Celso can operate as such.

Juventus apparently have contacted him over a free transfer next summer, which doesn't surprise me as Juventus are in big debt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Would happily let him go on a free next season if it meant we could get 1 more year out him. Got a better chance of winning trophies with our new signings + Eriksen, than we have getting rid of him this season.

I'm with you Don, I would rather hold on to him now. He showed yesterday that he's still in good spirits and an important player. This will be the most strength in depth we've had as a top 4 team and I want to see how we do with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, why would a team pay upwards of £50m for a player that will be free in less than 12 months time, unless they are desperate for a player in that position now then you would think they would wait......
----------------------------------------------------------------------
because if he has a good season lot more than one team will be after him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spanish clubs tend to do that. They take a punt on players - just like Betis did with Lo Celso

We may even see the best Eriksen this season as he a) knows he has competition in his position, and b) tries to appeal to teams next summer who showed a lack of interest this summer.

Then again I'm fooling myself if I think Levy is going to keep him.

I think most Spurs fans would like to see Eriksen at least 1 more year at Spurs, if he doesn't sign the contract. The team looks a lot better with him in the team and now we have some very good players to help Eriksen in attacking and defending the midfield area.

Nice to see that Spurs battered Liverpool 4-0 in the Premier League 2 opener with Kaziah Sterling, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Shilow Tracey all scoring.

Less chance of being able to afford better players next summer with losing a £50m asset though

As if Levy will go out and splash the cash if Eriksen goes mate if we got Dybala, then we can justify selling Eriksen this window, but we didn’t. So, our best bet is to try and offer him a new contract with a promise to sell him abroad next summer for a cut price. The European teams will be flocking to buy him, so we will have no trouble selling him. We get a fresh and ready Eriksen for the season and then a whole summer next year to replace him. That’s the best scenario. The worse is letting him leave without a replacement. GLC is not enough on his own, we should of bought 2 quality additions if Eriksen was leaving.

================

My gut instinct is that GLC wouldn't be able to dictate the pace of the game as much as Eriksen can. GLC is more of a flair player who has one thing in his mind: attack!
Eriksen looks around, assesses the game and decided to increase the tempo or slow it down, by keeping the passes quick or just keep hold off the ball a bit.
I might not do justice to GLC.

Good thing about Eriksen is that he can play on the right of a 4231 and still be excellent; not sure you can say the same thing about Lo Celso and Dele, who you would want as the 10, or Son, who you want on the left.

In the event of Eriksen leaving I think its gonna be difficult to get those 3 into an XI whilst also playing a formation that we excel in - some fans probably would drop Dele for Lucas at this point so this wouldn't be an issue, but as a big Dele fan I'd love for us to fine a way to get him involved with lo celso and son

We paid £30 million for Sessegnon who only had a year left.

Yes that’s a fair point, just feel there may be more caution if it’s over £50 to £60m possibly, I would prefer he stays as this could affect top four if he left now
