"lets talk about your uncle Rafa"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MPTg0Q5tfQ

to be fair Jose clearly is a level above the sky crop when it comes to tactical analysis but this was a highly enjoyable to watch debut for Jose as a pundit.

also a note for his future employer, he clearly aint changing his methods...

I reckon Chelsea will be on the phone to him soon enough.

Just a shame he couldn't adapt at OT even though I'm sure a lot of us accept that the problems ran far deeper than him.

.................

And that problem led to his appointment in the first place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I foolishly thought he'd change despite my misgivings.

I'm so glad we're now looking to go down the route of our traditions. It may not pay off straight away in terms of results but it should be a whole lot better to watch.

I hoped that seeing those statues at the ground would appeal to hos ego and that he would want some of that.

Wishful thinking on my part.

I don’t think Mourinho’s understanding of the game is ever something that should be questioned, you don’t achieve what he has without having a without a wealth of knowledge. It’s his personality which is the problem. Always has been.

Partialy agree with this.

He was the wrong guy for the group of players you have.

He needs a certain type of group to work with strong characters who he can trust and are top professionals. This was the reason he went for Maguire.
He had this at Porto, Chelsea first time and Madrid until Casillas had enough of him.

To be fair I've always actually liked Mourinho.

It's clear now he wasn't the right manager for United but I do like his general pantomimeish cockiness as a personality. Just a shame he couldn't adapt at OT even though I'm sure a lot of us accept that the problems ran far deeper than him.

Same. Always liked him even when he was at Chelsea first time round.

That is what I had in mind to. I'd have loved it had he said he wanted a statue too. No problem with that at all. I did think he started ok in terms of playing style but reverted to type by the end. A real shame as I do enjoy listening to him talk football when there's no agenda.

Praise for City is much deserved, but someone should have asked him how Pep got it so right, after joining at the same time, with a similar budget, and signing a similar amount of players to Jose?
--

I haven't read much after this comment so apologies if someone has already responded, but are you actually trying to say that Pep and Jose both started with City and Utd in similar circumstances...???

I think Souness has limited tactical knowledge about the game. It is always the same with guys like him and Keane. He knew his limits when he was listening to Mourinho.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, it’s all about passion, desire, winning the first ball etc, punditry has moved on and fans want more depth to their analysis than that, it’s Jurassic Park punditry.

Jose offered insight in spades yesterday and it was the first time in years I stayed tuned in after the final whistle to hear the post match analysis.

They’ll do that and still finish the season with Hiddink.
